You're missing that girl who's only shown up for three episodes. Haruhi's girlfriend.

i just finished watching ep 11 and i can't say i didn't forsee this..
the show takes a sudden serious turn... showing the true side of shizuka... her true feelings and all... Shizuka will be leaving soon and ryo cant bring himself to say he likes her....
this episode ends with a light song and shizuka running away...
shizuka also shouts "dai Kirai"(i hate you) to ryo...

Nature call??? It's at the back...
No! Don't say any more!
I'm following the series on fansub... it's fun, but I'm watching it more for any sort of underlying social commentary. In the beginning, Shizuka makes it very clear that the government is actively working to turn around the low birth rate. I've studied the graying situation in the Japanese society extensively, and this is starting to showcase that in popular culture.
Think about it... the utter seeming absurdity looks like it's a commentary on what the government is doing.
Who is advertising on the Princess Hour? What companies? Given the nature of the underlying concept, it'd be interesting to see if any government agencies are running PSAs or something like that... *rubs goatee thoughtfully*
