You know, if you look beneath all the platitudes and niceties, I think that's what some of the people are saying.

This is the problem with being on a forum devoted to tearing apart badfics--sooner or later, the members will turn on each other.

The thing is, at that particular site, those of us who have contributed money get to bitch more loudly than the others. I suppose that covers the 'loyal followers' thing.

Well, I could always link to it, but unless you're interested in reading about whether or not written child pornography is "hot", you might wanna hold back.

And the people at the Livejournal community in question have locked the post now. Damn. Ah, well. We had a fun discussion while it lasted. Well...as fun as trying to convince people that child porn is immoral can be. The argument got very, very dicey there for a little while.

Actually, that was the second flamewar. It's just the one on my mind right now because it's such a hot topic over at the forum. The first one was pretty short-lived and was more about one idiot complaining about the rules at fanfiction.net. But we still managed to be pretty abrasive.

Here's the thread in question. Quick warning--this particular forum's unmoderated, and we tend to swear. A lot. Try not to stray from the linked thread if you value your sanity. Not because of the swearing, but rather because of the content. You don't want to know what kind of fanfic exists out on the Net.

That's the thing about an unmoderated forum--you can do what you want, but when tempers start to flare, it's up to the posters to settle things. And, of course, if you say something beyond stupid, you can't delete your posts. There are times when you really have to tread carefully. Which is a pain in the ass.

But I agree, it's amusing. And fun.

are you kidding me? I learned first hand the kind of abuse, that can allow...... No way in hell should that be allowed. There are too many people who will do unbelievably sick things when there are no safe guards to allow that on this site.
