Hi Sibuxiang,

There are some episodes of FMP? Fumuffo! (2nd season) which they didn't show on Japanese TV, due to some issues in Japan (kidnappings, etc) at that time.

afaik all episodes are / will be available on dvd.

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

The special edition (I'm guessing you mean the Japanese release) I think is just different packaging with some collectable items. It's aimed at major fans of the show, not just those who enjoy it and just want the DVDs. The DVD content is exactly the same as that of the normal DVDs. In general, I don't think in the first season of FMP! there were any lost scenes between the Japanese release and the US/UK one, and both DVD versions in Japan are the same.

Yeah, there was one episode (with two stories) of Fumoffu not shown on Japanese TV due to the fact one story came too close to comfort from something that was really happening in Japan, but this episode was released when the DVDs came out in Japan. Hopefully ADV will include it when they release the US/UK versions of the series, and won't just release the broadcast version. A number of animes released in the West use the Japanese broadcast version rather than the Japanese DVD version, which has meant that some scenes have been lost as they weren't suited to TV, such as in Kare Kano/His and Her Circumstances.

Rumors like this have been floated before... about uncut / unedited / extended
versions of <insert here> existing. Until someone actually produces a
copy of the REAL thing, it's just that... rumors.

Otherwise, Taurec and cultnirvana have pretty much covered what we
do know for sure about the FMP! (Fumoffu) anime.

BTW, Welcome to the Boards!
