Hahahaha. That's so predictable, but you're probably right. I don't really like how much she seems like Kaname at face value though. They don't look all that differently, and apparantly they're both kickass.

I still think that even if she does develop a thing for Sousuke, he's not going to just forget Kaname that easily.

She's an AS geek of some sort (pilot, owner, ect), the animesuki poster neglected to mention there's also another new guy involved, and I'll be amazed if anyone can interpret any hankypanky on Sousuke's part from these illustrations

Weltall- unsure if your scenario is legit, but she's not being presented in the visuals as an 'interest' or even a wanna-be interest. Hopefully soon someone will be by to shed some light on it

Well... I would hope not. We JUST got over an issue with another potential love interest. Their relationship was starting to develop smoothly. I'd hate to see someone else smack them back down to where they were.

Looked at the pics. She's pretty hot. She looks like she MIGHT have a thing for Sousuke. Hard to say. We're getting very little on Kaname though. (read: nothing) We wanna know what's going on! That slimey bastard could be raping her for all we know!

That second to last pic though... Is she dead?

I just thought of something.. I was trying to remember all the Whispered and remembered the pic with all the known Whispered on it -- Kaname, Bunny, Leonard, Tessa.. and the mysterious red-haired girl. In this colored pic,

obviously the girl is red-haired as well. Maybe it's her?

Would make sense for another of Sousuke's love interest or person-to-rescue-and-protect to be another Whispered..

A little funny, cuz I've imagined scenarios where the red-haired girl came back to thank Sousuke and became his new love interest, making a very jealous Kaname..

I just thought it wouldn't be possible. Oh well, who knows till we get some more info.

Thanks Jae for posting the scans!

Couple of speculations & comments based on them:

- New girl has hots for Sousuke, but he doesn't return her feelings (YAY!)
- Guy with glasses might have a thing for new girl? Look at the 2nd to last picture...she appears to have died, and he has an incredibly pained look on his face...(counterpoint: if your comrade or friend died, wouldn't you?)
- For an "AS battle pilot," that new girl sure looks pretty helpless. There must be a couple of images where she's being kidnapped/threatened/beaten/held hostage in some way or another. Heck, even Kaname seems tougher than her!
- An entire story arc without Kaname? This makes for one sad panda, indeed.

- Sousuke appears darker, edgier, gloomier. Like he's out for vengeance and is about to cut someone.

Hmm, I think she definitely is being shown as a wannabe interest. There's way too man drinking/almost seeing each other naked/Sousuke rescuing her/etc shots of them for there not to be something like that in there. The interest definitely seems to be coming more from her though. And the other guy seems to like her more than Sousuke does, lol. BUT I'm probably wrong.

I agree with the dissapointed sentiment that Kaname doesn't appear to be in the storyline at all. *sigh*

Great scans. Look at this one, she's with Sousuke and blushing. It's really easy to see her as a contender... though she's a late comer in a game Kaname's already won. The Arbalest is destroyed huh but where is Tessa and the TDD? Is he really waging a one-man war with no backup from what's left of Mithril? I wouldn't be surprised if Sousuke becomes close to her and she gets killed. More angst for Sousuke. "RAWR!!! WHY GOD WHY!!!! AHH!!!! KILL!!!" something like that

. Only Kaname will be able to calm his heart.

A little OT: it reminds me of Kenshin's 2 lovers... one dies for him, one gives him salvation. Oooo, vol17 of the English manga is suppose to be out around now...

Well, yeah, some of the pics look a bit damning, at least on interest on her end of things. I'm reserving judgement as I don't have the context of the pictures to use. Maybe it's not what it seems, sort of like Kaname seeing Sousuke holding a pair of her panties in episode 3. She thinks it's because he's a pervert, though in actuality, he took them from Shinji and forgot he had them. If you saw just a still of her looking at him while he held the panties, the implication would be that he's a pervert, quite the opposite of reality. In FMP! the pervert honors go to Kurz.

But, I dislike it when it gets taken too seriously or as fact.

I hope that any concerns about Sousuke's loyalty are soothed. That poster over there either knew what was what and just wanted to piss off alot of people, or knew nothing and still wanted to piss off alot of people.
I agree that we can't know how FMP will end, but I think the K/T and Will they/Won't they debates are pretty well dead.

As for Nami raising a stink- she's depicted is outgoing, friendly, confident, and probably annoyingly cheerful. Maybe she has a mild attraction, definately a casual 'like' for S, but if it's already a full-blown crush it isn't indicated well visually. She's not (sexuallly) aggressive, not flirty, ect.

The beer/party pic is purely chummy- her body is turned away from him with her boobs nowhere near 'accidental grazing' distance. She's not directly facing him, and appears to be trying to involve him in the fun and not force his attention on her. She's either ignorant or insensitive to his mood. Images can always be over analyzed, but they are still important because an illustrator is deliberately communicating. Positioning matters as do other small details. ShikiDouji knows how to show someone in crush/lust/love.

After S saves her butt from whatever fight she gets into, it might just be context for her to be flushed. Possibly she's got a touch of hero-worship, or a basic attraction is starting. Either way- she doesn't seem happy that he shows up at her door while she's in her panties. After this scene, she seems a bit contrary towards S, but there's too much context missing now. Maybe he rejected her? But there still aren't conclusive signs that she's after him.
(I toyed with the idea perhaps she's just the outgoing type who will make a first move in her panties and is kicking him out after failing

, but, she's hiding her body and he's positioned like he's arriving, not going. Afterall, S does have simply terrible karma involving girls in panties and towels and bras

)

I think it's possible she wouldn't reject being an interest, but she's not shown as being flirty, coy, wistful, or nervous. Whatever she's got, it doesn't appear to rate as important enough to be clearly illustrated at this point. Even in the color promo pics she's in, she's not shown even looking at S, much less close or emotional. Comparing her pictures to that of Kaname, Tessa, Mizuki, ect.. other girls who have different but obvious 'like/love' faces... Nami is so far exceedingly mild and she's not making a fuss.

- Personally, at this time I can only call her an AS-geek. Someone else claimed she was a pilot, but the only mini-blurb I've looked at so far suggests she's an AS owner. So until more info turns up or I annoy myself with more mini-blurbs, that's what I stick to, since it covers it all

- I had forgotten it, but she does look like that mysterious person in that illustration from January 04. Some small changes like hair, but it's been a while since that was published.

- I agree that it looks like guy-who's-name-I-don't-know has a thing for girl-who's-name-I-already-forgot. Mystery is exactly how to classify that 'thing'.

- If she's Whispered, and dead... what a waste of a Whispered! She could be useful to Sousuke, if she is wh and isn't dead. Looks like there's some potential for her to be important, and I wouldn't dream of ruling out her trying to tangle her fingers in the emotional plot. But.... IMO that would probably mostly just suck, cuz Hey! we've been here before!!.
Perhaps Gatou's seeking some plot balance- having K and S separated and both involved with hangers-on.

- I don't know who these people are- their affiliations, grouping, ect. Not Mithril- gonna hazard a guess (again) and lean away from military and toward civvie-private. Might be wrong but the fight Miss-whatever got into seems suggestive of a lack of a formal hierarchy. She shouldn't need an outsider to save her ass if she has formal connections with these guys. AS otaku? Their AS models are pretty old, aren't they?

- Also- dunno if there's been info about K so far. If there hasn't been, there might be a plot reason behind it. Such as- the readers are supposed to be as surprised as Sousuke is when he finally catches up to her. Maybe we're supposed to be just as in the dark as him....
(or maybe the Kaname angle will open up later.)

Snif, Sousuke ... I'm so proud, I was afraid the cliche triangle wouldn't grow any further.
This has restored my fate into this anime. / manga *starts hunting bunny wabbits*

So what? It's manga/anime .. Sousuke would be the defined hero and just about everybody else needs to be rescued atleast once by him..
