Lambda Driver Question

Post by Kashmir »

Hi, I'm new to this forum so please forgive me if this topic has already came up and has been answered. The thing is I lately was thinking about the lambda driver and it seems a lot of the info about it is very vague. I looked it up in google, and wikipedia for some strange reason has a lot about it. My question is why was there only 1 person in Mithril who knew how to build it? It's kind of strange that Mithril couldn't muster up another scientist to work on it, not to mention that they have a whispered (Tessa) who probably could give a lot of information on it, and Amalgam which doesn't seem more superior is able to make a bunch of AS's equipped with lambda drivers.

A whispered built it (Dr. Bunny - no, I'm not joking). A whispered's gift is a specialization in only a certain branch of black technology. Tessa for example has a special gift in b.t. which allowed here to design the TDD.

What about kaname then? She seemed to have quite a bit of knowledge in the lambda driver.

We don't know what her b.t. specialty is yet, it may infact be the Lambda Driver. It would make sense when you take into account the latest events in the novels, it would play right into the flow.

Yea I took it that her specialty was the Lambda Driver after all she did know how it worked once she saw it. All I know is that Mithril has to come up with a way to make a new AS or AS's equipped with a Lambda Driver considering that the arbalest gets destroyed. I would like to see Kurz with Lambda Driver equipped AS. His sniping skills + a Lambda Driver has to be unstoppable.

@Kashmir
If you review the ep where Kalinin talks with Sousuke -- I think it's right
after they returned from Khanka -- he speaks of Lambda Technology as
'something that shouldn't exist,' as is much of the technology both Mithril
and some of the other powers in the FMP! universe are vying for. It's not
for a lack of personnel that Black Tech isn't widespread; it's part of the reason.
It's probably more a lack of overall understanding of the technology like Killer says.

BTW, welcome to the boards

I have just gathered a bunch of information and found some pretty interesting stuff:

[ecs]First of all supposedly the ARX-7 has a sister called the ARX-8, but no other information has been released about it. From the looks of it, that might be the next Lambda Driver equipped AS that Sousuke is going to pilot. Also the very first Lambda Driver equipped AS was the M9D which was piloted by Belfangan Crusoe. Once I found out this I remembered in TSR that Mao kept calling Verfungun Clouseau Bel. So that is making me believe that maybe his AS is equipped with a Lambda Driver but he's not revealing/using it. Also the M9D supposedly has a mechanical maturity above the Arbalest. This basically gives away that Mithril had 3, but now 2 Lambda Driver equipped AS's.[/ecs]

I'm not sure if I'm right, this is all just theory, but seems that there's a lot of easter eggs hidden in the anime series. BTW isn't Dr. Bunny's real name Bani Morauta. Just wondering. :-P

use [ecs] instead of . - K

IIRC, the M9E Falke was supposed to have a Lambda Driver, but it's stated in ODBD that it doesn't have one. Unless Bel was playing everyone...

Well when I found this info about the M9D and stuff it wasn't very descriptive. All I know is that there is a chance that Bel might have piloted a M9D with a Lambda Driver before and it might have been stashed away or even destroyed. His current one might be different. The "Hawk" is supposedly just a better and improved M9, but it does make sense that it might have a Lambda Driver and that he might be hiding the fact that it does from everyone. Hopefully I can find more on this or maybe they will later reveal a clue in the future novels.

Also there is a ARX-6 Halberd which probably everyone knows of. I'm not sure though if thats equipped with a Lambda Driver.

Both the wiki seem to have it wrong ???

Wasn't the E the Falke and the M9(D) the Gernsback.

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

I just watched FMP TSR episode 8. Wikipedia was right. When Bel orders Sousuke to fight him, once Sousuke saw him in his Hawk, the Arbalest identifies it and refers it as a prototype of the M9-D series which is similar to the M9-E (Gernsback).

Hmmm. *shrugs* I'll go reread ODBD.

Also, according to ODBD, Bel's M9 is called the "Falke", as opposed to the production M9 used by Mithril, which is the "Gernsback". Falke is German for Falcon, so I think that would be a better name to use that Hawk. *shrugs*

In Chapter 3a of ODBD, Tessa tells Sousuke that Mithril doesn't have to power to build any new ASes with Lambda Drivers, and that Arbalest is the only operation Lambda Driver-equipped AS in Mithril's arsenal.

Yep, the Falke-series are D-Type prototypes. D for Dortmund maybe? Mao says they're made in Dortmund. *sighs*

"The answer is... no, it's not. There were plans to, but the developer committed suicide." - Cluzout to Mao, on whether the Falke is equipped with a Lambda Driver.

The ARX-6 Halberd may or may not have been equipped with a Lambda Driver, but Leonard Testarossa describes it as a failed prototype, so I'm assuming it no longer exists.

Well I guess the only one left to figure out if it has a Lambda Driver is the ARX-8. I have a feeling that more about the ARX-8 is going to be revealed in the later chapters of Volume 17.

If it's info you need, I got some more. Though, I warn you this is a pretty big spoiler from Volume 17 Moeru One Man Force:

[ecs]Wraith meets up with a mysterious man
"You have the stuff?"
"We are both on our own now."
"So what is this AS' name?"
"There is none since the project was scrapped - but if it had one, it would be known as..."
"ARX-8"[/ecs]

The ARX-8's call name is supposedly Catapult, I'm not sure though, that might just be theory. Once I find more on the ARX-8 I'll give it, but so far this is the most. Please I warn you all again this is a huge spoiler and if you want to find it all out on your own, I advise to not look at this. Also if you want to add into your FMP-MUSH AS collection, later Sousuke pilots a Rk-91 Savage Crossbow to help Nami.
