26C shouldn't be such a problem desho ? DESHO !!!????

Gawd 28 paid holiday days in reserve, I really should go on a vacation.
Maybe I should cash-in the days and get me a motorcycle.

Motorcycles are cool. I started took a class and got my license in spring, got a used 250cc bike and started riding a month afterwards. Use it for my 3-mile commute to work every day now. 8)

Circle, what bike do you have?

Oh trust me, my father is a Chief Motorcycle Safety Instructor for the US Air Force. Took me years to trust myself... he was the one passing or failing me for my licensure.

No pressure.

Oooo, I'ma write a long post about my moto =]

I have a year 2001 Kawasaki Ninja 250. It's like the only bike smaller than a 500cc that still has a sports styling. Good for beginners like me.

I've droped it once: It stalled when I was going uphill coming out of the parking lot of my apt. I was a noob and started it back up without putting it into neutral so it lurched forward and I panic'd and squeezed the brakes hard which cause my front wheels to lock and the bike skidded out and fell beneth me. It knocked left signal light off but the bulb was still intact so I taped it up and it looked fine from a distance. ;)

Then one day when coming home from work, the intersection was green for me and I needed to make a right turn. I went into the turn too fast. I remembered in class that you don't want to brake while turning or you'll skid and wipe out. So I straightened my bike to do an emergency stop but I was too slow in braking hard so I ran into the raised median at an angle and got thrown off my bike (less than 1 foot away). I landed on my hands and knees, my hands were ok since I was wearing gloves but my knees were scraped even though there was a only slight ruffle on my pants. This accident also left big scuff marks on my boots. My bike fell on its left side again, and this time the left signal light was completely busted.

Unfazed, I still rode it to work even though my replacement lights have not yet come, (a pair for $35) from ebay. Since the new lights aren't the matching stock lights, I replaced them both and sold the other working old one for $20.

I also got my carburators cleaned and that solved the stalling and always-need-choke problem.

In all, I've spent $1700 (advertised $1800) on the bike (came with helmet, gloves, disk lock, magnetic tank bag), $50 on a new jacket (msrp $150), $200 to clean the carbs, $30 on boots, $15 ($35 - $20) for new turn signals. Total is about $2000 USD.

Still ride to work 5 days a week. My commute is 7 miles total each day, no need to get on the highway (I still haven't rode on the highways yet). Average 50 miles-per-gallon. I wouldn't say a motorcycle is more convenient. I put on full gear (except protective pants) when I ride so that takes more time than just jumping into the car. Can't carry much cargo. My work schedule of 5am to 1:30pm avoids rush hour traffic, I don't need to get on the highway anyways, so traffic not an issue. I live about 3.5 miles away from work so not much more spent on gas if I drive my Nissan Sentra instead.

Once the rainy season arrives in the winter, I'll stop riding until spring. By then I'll have more experience and will get new tires, I might do some joy riding along the beaches. But yes; better gas milage is a plus, lane splitting in traffic jams is a plus (though risky), (finding) parking is much easier, and above all - I ride a motorcycle for fun and to look cool. 8)

Here's a pic of it from the ad when I bought it. The lights have been replaced and I also have a fairly new seat cover to cover up my torn-up seat but I'll need to "borrow" a staple gun from a store to install it.

A picture too!! Very nice moto.

Kawasaki's are quite reliable (and durable) bikes indeed.
