And they fixed it for one whole week .... alarms are pouring is.

It's a 12yr old Cisco Soho 78 and after all those years of service it shows 100 CPU spikes and the net goes bye bye.

@Taurec
...serious(ly)? What, there's no budget to replace that bloody thing? In computer years, that thing is a f**king dinosaur!

Looking to FINALLY replace my LG Blackberry-knockoff phone. Torn between the 16GB Samsung Galaxy S5 vs the HTC One M8.
Con of the S5 -- of all the 16GB phones, this has the least amount of freespace left (~7GB free). Con of the HTC -- internals
not user serviceable... and I am by nature an IT geek / DIY-er.

I got a chance to hold and play with the Nexus 6... GAWD, what a beauty! Give it an internal microSD card and I'd be all
over this puppy! Other con -- Googleplay store CONSISTENTLY lists this as UNAVAILABLE / CHECK BACK LATER. *le sigh*

Tall and Cold, cuz I think I'm coming down with a cold or the flu...

Buddy of mine had an M8 and their renowned speakers failed 3 times already.

He sold it quickly bought a Sony Z3 and is happy with it .. (I myself would have gotten the z3 compact) also ASOP is available on the Sony.

M8 has no sd slot but the s5 has ... but imho Samsung sucks in the update department (I have an S4) and after rooting you will blow the e-fuse meaning bye bye warranty.

This is my main reason I won't be getting the S(x)

Samsung never again....

You sure about that statement, Taurec? Definately not looking to make any snap judgements / purchases here,
esp. as I'm looking to buy outright and will be hanging onto this for a couple years...

I have the S5, Love it :-P

Been a Samsung fan boy for years but yeah the updating sucks though if you don't root them... Cyanogen Mod was my primary mod on the Galaxy Note 1..

Haven't touched the S5 yet under the hood but I'm actually very happy with it for a first (for an original rom)...

Hey ZyreX, Whiskey Bravo comrade!

Yeah, I'm getting that view from a couple other friends who have S5s. Like I said, the ONLY thing stopping me is the limited flash capacity remaining.

...and got another option to consider -- LG G3. Anyone have / use this puppy?

Miss Universe 2015 costume contest -- Canada's was #9

...all I can say is

Ah okay bud told me .. seemingly he was wrong.. (m7?)

Anyway .. I don't want a phone from a company that restricts me and voids my warranty only because I don't want all the manufacturers software.
having an e-fuse is bullshit.

But I don't get the limited flash capacity you mention

Hey Z .. happy new year :-P

IMHO unwrapping is always part of the fun :-D

Yes, I've been told "go get a microSD card, what I've heard is that some apps don't play nice with being moved to the SD card...

Also, this is a pretty graphic representation of my concern. I've been there before where you underspec something at the start, then actual
usage overtakes it by a bigger margin than expected.

Took some time last weekend to play with a LG G3. Rather nice, and fairly easy to work with IMO, I've been warned about the battery life,
so am keeping that in mind. Given the available models of the HTC One M8 and LG G3 are 32GB and no carrier in Canada is carrying the
Galaxy S5/32GB, I'm HEAVILY leaning towards these two phones.

S5 has two types of Battery saving modes,
I never use them in my ordinary days but when I was Hiking I had the S5 on Ultra Power Saving Mode and It would last for 8-14 days (I switched between modes so cant really say) (but then again, it also renders the phone unusable in terms of functionality (you can text/browse the web and take calls) and also everything is in black and white. but you cant take photos or record video which is what I wanted todo..

the second normal powersaving mode just limits to one core being used so its abit lagish at times but nothing you will get irritated about as the normal mode is smooth as butter..

So I have had mine for about 6 months now,
been using it quite alot today, Browsing around/imguring taking calls and listening to spotify for about an hour. no saving mode or anything and the battery is at 53% thats (Unplugged from 07:30 Morning to 00:40 Midnight)
which is totally fine by me, usually my phones would dry out about the same usage before..

so thats my report on the S5 :)

ps, yeah happy new year ;)

The 21st centry would like to welcome HELLFIRE on his purchase of a smartphone and dataplan, the 19th century
would like his old phone back... so took the plunge and got the HTC One, picked up a 64GB SDHC card to go with
it. Almost didn't as there was a bunch of administrative bulls**t when it came purchase time -- loss of loyalty
credit, unable to process my credit card, BS of "if you do X, will cost you more, amt unknown at this time..."

Will call again in a few days to determine if the 1st one's been sorted out or not, but hasors a new phone!

Thx for the input on phones guys...

Which, for the plan or the phone? HTC One M8 on its own was $700. LG G3 was $600.

...fast HATING this exercise at work in documentation n. from an ancient and obscure dialect that translates roughly as 'for some other poor schmuck to do.' There was a new network segment that was supposed to gradually transition in. Well, with the passing of the guy that supported it, that transition's been "accelerated" read:clients want their service.

Redrawing the diagrams into something that makes alittle more sense for me, but besides that is applying for IDs, tracking down systems owners, validating access... Just Shoot Me Please!

500 country-wide mins, 500MB. Subsidized phone is $45CDN/month. BYOP takes 10% off that.
Mind you that's just my current carrier. Haven't looked at the other carriers yet.

Noir don't know if you want to chime in with how much it is for your carrier.
