I don't get male and female fan service to begin with
I'm probably going to be beaten to death for saying this but... They're animated. I mean, the animation is rarely so amazing that the characters look real. So what makes them hot to begin with? :?

That's all true, but I still have to disagree a bit :) Beacuse basicly everything is for the people who like the genre (or "genre", can't really talk usual male fanservice things like genres). Big boobs for men (and why not for women) who like them and so on.

I think that difference between FFS ja MFS comes just from generalization... There is (or at least one could think there is) more boys than girls who like to watch big boobs. And there is tons of yaoi fangirls, yaoi fanboys are relativly rare -> yaoi(ness) not related to plot is added for female watchers, so in my world it counts FFS.

Nah, reality is just overrated crap ;)

Personally I like fanservice because it (well, at least parts of it) allows us to see personal side of characters, and in many series that side is not too relevant to the plot... When the point is kill as many vampires, demons and werewolves as possibile and save the world, it really is not important if some one has a crush for some hot looking girl, and without fanservice that side of him would be completly unshown.

Of course there is lots and lots of better ways make characters deeper and more intresting (non-surprisingly FS usually does not reach deepest secrets, desires and so on), but at least there is something. Ok, my exaple sucks, but I think you will all get the point.

And yeah, hot men are hot 8) But I have a boy friend, so I am going to do nothing with them, and so it does not really matter who is real and who is not.
(English is not my native language, so my writings are pretty crappy. Try to live with it.)

Hotness, desires, etc are purely psychological.

The visuals/audables invoke the imagination, which in turn invokes a physical reaction. Its this visual/audial-to-psychological-to-physiological link that we establish in our brains which makes us think a completely fictional character is "hot". (i.e. The "Moe Moe" effect)

Also by visuals I don't only mean the appearance, I also mean their behavior and body language. They also serve as visual cues which we pick up on. By audables, I mean the way the character says certain things.

Remember, its the observer which is important, not the character.

Yes indeed a wide range of opinions, but how's about we get to the meat of
the question, cite specific examples of what'd you'd consider FFS? Easy enough
to find examples of the bishi-types and quickie-implied eyecatch stuff, but are
there any series that panders entirely to female desires / fantasies? I've kind
of thought of series like La Corda d'Oro and Fruits Basket as reverse harem-romance
type series for girls -- one girl amongst many potential male interests.

...as for guys having more FS than girls, well... insert comment about
guys and their overactive imaginations/fantasies/hormones/etc being the
biggest market of this stuff *guilty as charged*

Yes, yes indeed, you guys drive this business... But hey... only because we don't speak about it, it doesn't mean we, girls, are made of rock...;)

With the examples... Hmm.. I haven't seen the first one, but I do know Fruits Basket How could I not?! *my av* and... well, if you think about it, the reverse-harem as you called it is some kind of FFS. And it really happened that finally MALE CHARACTERS run around naked :-D  :-D  :-D In other words - very good example, Hellfire:clap: ! :D If you take away main female char's naivness, it could go as almost perfect FFS :D :salute:

However... there are not really many series like those mentioned

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Corda_D%27Oro -- in case you're interested

There aren't many reverse-harem series anime-wise... what about manga?
Or is it one of those 'go back to the source' things where'd you'd literally have
to end up in the 'adult female' section of the bookstore to find anything?

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge would fall in that categorie, too, I think. But I'm not quite sure if there are that many females who like that "ultra-feminie" (or just call gay :-D ) type of guy

saw the first episode and hmm that was just to much for me :-D

I recommend you see the 2nd - Goth Loli Sisters are just... mmmmmm ;) However, you are right - personally I can't stand such guys, not to mention that the female character is waaay too exagerated... And those guys themselves are... not as pretty as you could expect from such series (I heard that manga is much better, though).

(I've already checked La Corda, but thank you Hellfire - yes, I got hooked ^^) I haven't really come across even 'adult female' mangas, so I don't really know... BUT, undoubtfully, there isn't many girl fan service series... Why do you think it is so? Because, c'mon, there are LOADS of anime/manga fan girls...

Never saw Goth Loli Sisters.

Other than my psycho-analytics there is nothing more I can say thats useful, except that its all about the bouncies, but I digress........

Usually this forum goes quite when its nice out.

And its been nice out.

Except Saturday, it wasn't really that nice out. As a matter of fact it was quite rainy. Well, here in NY that is. I can't comment about the rest of the world, which may have had a nice Saturday or would it be Friday? I suppose it depends on which side of the date line you're on. Which would mean that you may have had a bad Saturday. Since Sunday would be Saturday, but then it was nice on Sunday, which would be Saturday. So it may have been a nice Saturday after all. We can't of course count Friday, which is Saturday here and was nice out, since people work on Friday, except here where Friday is really Saturday. We don't work on Saturday, even though it is Friday in other places where people work. People aren't really interested in Friday, since they're working and the weather doesn't matter as much, except for rush hour. You don't want bad weather during rush hour, Since thats the time you're out of doors. Of course if you go out for lunch, then you wouldn't want bad weather then either. Also, there are people who work outside, so I'm sure they care about the weather while the rest of us don't. I guess people really do care about the the weather whether or they are outside to enjoy it or not then. The weather that is. But then some people don't work. Not that that is bad mind you, there may be very good reasons for it, but not all reasons are good. However I'm not going to make judgment on whether your a lazy bum or not. But if you don't work you probably want nice weather, except if you're a Hikokomori, then you simply don't give a damn either way, or you might. Maybe your a compassionate Hikokomori that worries about others, however unlikely that may seem. You'd be an "in tune" Hikokomori then, since you have an interest in the outside world, but prefer to observe it in the privacy of your own room, or closet. After all, you could be a closet Hikokomori. But what do you do if you a Hikokomori who suffers from Claustrophobia? That would be funny. You would be freaking out and wanting to run outside, but freak out at the thought of running outside. I suppose you'd spontaneously explode at that point, which is why there aren't that many Claustrophobic Hikokomories. But you'd care about the weather since you always want to run outside. But then again, you may not since you don't *really* want to go outside.

So I suppose I should say "I hope you had a nice weekend or not, if you care or not, if it was the weekend or not, and you worked or not, but don't freak out about it."

That about covers it.

Now what were we talking about?

Oh yes.

Examining your Post Raspberry, I noticed you haven't mentioned any other series of Shows/manga that you considered had Fan Service For Women, other than Goth Loli Sisters, which I won't watch because I would bring shame to my ancestors if I do (although I'm sure Hellfire has no problem with it :P ). However , I'm watching Kodomo no Jikan, which would make that jumping the frying pan for the fire, but I again digress...

Backhand

Ah, sorry, but you already did - Goth Loli Sisters is just a name of group of psycho-gothic-lolita-girls who appear in Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge series :D

I haven't mentioned about other series with FFS, because I do not know anymore. Plain and simple. I though about Bleach suggested by someone, but the amount of handsome characters are balanced by ugly characters, so no real fan service. I also started wondering if there is hentai-oriented female fan service. I've read an article once... it said that there is such genre (here meaning a potential reader) - it's called ledicomi/redisu/josei, which is more or less shortcut of "lady comics" - the physical love is shown in such, but instead of picturing raw mating, it focuses rather on the emotions (or something like that). However, the genre is not that popular outside Japan...

Which, again, makes me wonder WHY? Gathering all my knowledge, loads of genres are for girls/women specifically as potential readers! Need examples? Here you go: magical girls, cross-dressing, shoujo-ai, yuri, shonen-ai, yaoi... (Well, yes, the last four have been already mentioned, but is it REALLY a fan service or just category?..)

P.S. And yes, I decided to ignore part of your reply about weather :-P But don't worry, I've read it ^^

I would assume that sports anime contains elements of female fanservice
for example Dear Boys.....

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."
