Prairie / Masker
- anti-torpedo / submarine decoy system employed on warships
(and SUPPOSEDLY submarines, but this is not confirmed). Prairie
is an air-bubble generation system for a ship's propellers, while
Masker performs a similar function for a ship's hull.

active sonar
- A mode of sonar (the other being passive). Active sends out 'pings'
of sound waves. While being extremely accurate, the disadvantage
is that it gives away the pinger's location.
