Hand to hand I'd probably give to Sousuke (though Kira almost never fights outside his mecha, so it's hard to be 100% sure.) In mecha, I'm sorry to say, Kira would probably cream Sousuke without breaking a sweat. His machine is like 3x bigger, crazy powerful and he's a godmoding uber-coordinater.

Kira would then cry about it when it was over.

You want analysis?

Hand-to-hand combat: Sousuke. Kira may have the relatively enhanced strength of a Coordinator, but he probably doesn't know the first thing about hand-to-hand fighting, save that armlock he used on Sai.

Having said that, though, my money's on Athrun in a knife fight. Graded at the top of his batch, according to one of the Drama CD skits.

Gun combat: Sousuke. Let's face it, Kira has no points in gun skills throughout SEED. (Remember that time when he threw the gun at a Blue Cosmos guy, and the other incident when Mu had to remind him to remove the safety catch?) I hear he may have improved in Destiny, but there was that hilarious analysis of Ep. 47 where he got caught in a gunfight and shot no-one at all.

Mecha: Actually (and I just checked), FMP's Arm Slaves are run on Palladium Fusion reactors, technology that is beyond CE's fission reactors. Only thing is, CE discovered Phase Shift, while Beam Weapons don't seem to be part of Whispered Black Technology. But the Lambda Driver owns all if it works, so my verdict depends on Sousuke's state of mind.

Piloting: Given that both writers have given their characters instances of God-modding (I count Sousuke's demolition of 5 Venoms without breaking a sweat), it goes to Kira, realism be damned.

Getting the girls: Kira. No question.

Open Verdict for me.

Oh, and that's Impulse in the banner, not Strike.

(But the Strike is about twice the size of the Arbalest.)

In hand to hand Sousuke would whoop the ass of Kira but imho also Athrun.
as Sousuke fights "unconventional" / dirty.
No matter how long you studied martial arts usually you end up messed up after fighting a bastard.

I don't acknowledge Gundams as they seem to break every rule in the book.

Hm...

I'd have to say in a mecha battle, even if souske went full powered lambda driver, it wouldn't really do much.

Souske's shotgun bullets/machine gun bullets aren't gonan really do jack to the freedom and kira can dodge like a mofo + beam shield.

Even if souske is protecting himself with the lambda driver, i think kira would just eventually tire him out, cause it seems a lot more tiring piloting an as than a gundam.

Don't forget, TT, that the Lambda Driver works offensively as well. Betcha it can penetrate Phase Shift, Beam Shields and anything that isn't magical (because you know the LD runs on magic

), although hitting the Freedom is a problem.

Having said that, though, I used both the Freedom and the Arbalest pretty extensively in SRW J, and I'm neutral on this issue.

Sagara's Vorpal Sneezes could probably anhilate the entire cast of Gundam SEED without him noticing. As for the Freedom... well, just wish it to go bang.
