ADV Films?

Post by cullenk »

Has anyone heard what the deal with ADV Films is? I know they lost a big licensing deal with some Japanese firm, and Funimation wound up releasing a bunch of titles they were supposed to release. But we still get Anime Network on Demand in our market. Still, the other day, I saw a review that referred to them as "the now defunct ADV Films."

So are they now Tango Uniform? For all my Googling, I can't really find a definitive answer.

...wonder if this had anything to do with the mythical NGE live action movie the management
was supposedly working on... or just the general downturn in the market. As ADV is private
and doesn't have to put a whole lot into the public record, we may never know the truth

On a good day, a Tomahawk can fly into the door of a two-car garage at the distance of several hundred miles. And that can ruin your whole day.

Just read at Otaka USA, then confirmed on Anime News Network that ADV Films is shutting down and has transferred their assets to other companies.

As a general rule, I don't pay much attention to this kind of inside baseball, but a lot of the anime shows that helped get me hooked, including FMP, were ADV properties, I think it is kind of sad.

They used to monitor this forum.

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

First Geneon, now ADV... so that's leaves Funimation (which has got it's
fingers in the never-gonna-die DragonBall line) and Bandai (which has got
the equally never-gonna-die Gundam line) as the big players. Viz puts out
a title or two every now and then but they have their manga to keep them
going, and Media Blasters doesn't count...

...just my 0.02 rambling but neither Geneon nor ADV had a mjor property
holding them down, when you think about it.
