Iranian Air Defense Radar (military) a ten minute 'heads up'
if they will be transiting Iranian airspace.
A pilot overheard this conversation on the VHF Guard
(emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz while flying from Europe More...
to
Dubai . Read below....
The conversation.....
Iranian Air Defense Radar: 'Unknown aircraft you are in
Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.'
U.S. Aircraft: 'This is a United States aircraft.
I am in Iraqi airspace.'
Iranian Air Defense Radar: 'You are in Iranian airspace.
If you do not depart our airspace we will launch
interceptor aircraft!'
U.S. Aircraft: 'This is a United States Marine
Corps FA-18 fighter. Send 'em up. I'll wait!'
Iranian Air Defense Radar: (no response ... )

not Quite my friend as the foxbat is no were near as maneuverable as the F18, It's mostly a Running battle charge and let the missiles do there job. Fulcrum is another story but Marine and Navy Fliers still train too fight them. besides The Iraqis also had foxbats and Fulcums lot of good it did them. besides lately it's been a lot of saber rattling from the Iranians probably a bluff on there part.

Why get into a knife fight at 350knts and 20K feet in the air when you can
reach out... and touch someone. Also, who knows what condition the
Iranian Foxbats are... hell, they're middle age as it is, while the Hornet is little younger.
If anyone remembers the stunt they pulled with the RN back in 2007 and
now the American hikers, this doesn't come as a surprise. I guess this
leatherneck wasn't in the mood to take any gumption today
