Mil Mi-24 'Hind-D/E' helicopter gunship
- again, it's debatable whether this is the -D or -E model shown. The
mainmost difference between the two is that the -D model has a standard
armament of the 4 barrel 12.7 minigun turrent and Falanga (NATO
AT-2 'Swatter') wire-guided missiles, while the -E can carry either the
12.7mm minigun or two fixed 23mm cannons, Shturm (NATO AT-6 'Spiral)
radio-command missiles, and different engines.
* depicted in the anime, the Hind has modifications to its engine exhausts
that are reminicient of Soviet developments similar to the 'Black Hole'
IR suppressors used on the US AH-64 Apache helicopter gunship.
