So Rose .. when does season 2 start ??
SEASON TWO???

Actually, there's a girl that wants to continue my fic. O.o I need to work on Falter, so that's my priority in FMP! fanfic land. More plot. Some AS's. Hopefully, it won't suck. O.o

@Darkbane - Wow. Thank you very much for the compliment. :) FMP! Is very blessed for its sized fandom in terms of fanfic. I don't think I've seen any that are really bad. I come from a much larger fandom (Gundam Wing), which has literally THOUSANDS of people writing and reading fanfic for it. And the fans there, I've come to find, are really spoiled on it. (myself included) I started reading Fruits Basket fanfiction before dabbling in FMP! fanfic, and FB has some BAD fanfic. It has some good fanfic, too, but a lot more of it is bad than good, unfortunately. GW has some TERRIBLE fanfic. It also has some REALLY well done fanfic. I've not seen any BAD FMP! fanfic. *knock on wood* So far, all I've seen is really good! And one thing that seems to be at least somewhat true... The more good fanfic, the more authors will be likely to write it, the more fans will be attracted to read it and participate. It becomes a cycle as the fandom grows.

As for more of this particular story, I'm not planning on it at this time. I have a longer series in the works entitled Falter. The prologue is posted around here, somewhere, though it doesn't really tell much, yet. It picks up after the last ep of series 1, and is planned out as being more plot centric (and much longer). It worries me a little, sometimes, but...well, we'll see. Nothing scares me more than expectations, so, expect it to be bad, and maybe it won't....

force / organization. Who knows. Shinobi prolly knows better than
I do. And don't mind Kat, he's been AWOL for the last.... idunno,
3 weeks at least
I don't mind Kat, unless he's subtly insulting me in response to other people's fics.

Other than that, paramilitary is probably correct, though they did call themselves teenage mercernaries. Are mercernaries paramilitary groups? In The Rock, those guys all had ranks, etc. even though they had split from the US Marine Corps. And, obviously, there was some problem with command and obeying orders. I wonder how Mithril keeps their soldiers in line. O.o

@Whispered - Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. And *lol* yeah, Sousuke's hot, but Kaname can have him. I don't think I have the patience, and I definitely don't have the skill with the fan. ;)

@Taurec - I've not seen a fanfic, but I belive I've seen a doujinshi of the sort. *I* won't be writing that. But if YOU want to, be my guest. And for our part, we won't go into "authorial projection". ;)

Rose

i read all the other fmp fanfics i could find after this, mostly through the link from your chapter 3, ie the blissfullignorance forums, and i agree with you most of it is pretty decent.

i'm intrigued by Falter and hope to see more of it soon... it looks like it will start out pretty dark, but please please make it have a happy ending, despite that being so stereotypical :D

also waiting on the finish of 'the devil inside'.. that Crispin character is very likeable (he's got it all, major flaws, tragedy, etc :) ) and a nice addition to the series in some sense.

*raises hand* That would be me, Rose. I think I'm the only PookaKitten on the net. :) And don't worry, I won't turn into a horse and toss you into a lake. 8) Yes, that's the origin of pookas, in British folktales, I think.

Now if I was only as pleased with Contradictions and Self-Recrimations as I was with Thoughts of You. I think it just stems from the fact that the second is much more focused than the first, and the first was written much more stream of conciousness. I didn't even intend for Kaname to voice her regrets for her behavior or their growing closeness, only muse on the two sides of her shadow. It's odd how those two lend themselves to poetry.

Here is the online defn I found for paramilitary,
defn #1 pretty much describes Mithril in a nutshell.

As for keeping Mithril soldiers in line, well.. most recruited already
have some military service behind them. That, or one certain VERY hot
Captain as their CO  *hehehe*

@Taurec
I think br here once wrote a little spamfic of Chidori-domini after she took
a fashion trip thru Mao's closet... I'd LOVE it if someone could turn THAT
into a full-blown fanfic :-D

I think what is used to keep mercs in line is their pay.

Towards the end of FMP weren't the traitors griping about pay? (I seem to remember that but not clearly)

And it was the same in the Rock- those guys were acting on the assumption they'd get paid, and hell broke out when things didn't go by plan.
The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

I won't even consider it without Rose's permission, as the original is her baby, and I'd want the same treatment in her place.

I'm still thinking about it, which is why I haven't replied. I'm not adverse, just...still thinking.

@Hellfire: Thanks for the info! :)

@Jae: Yeah, I figured it had to be pay related, but that would also indicate there's not really any OTHER punishments involved. So, then would one be granted a discharge from a mercernary group, or be able to resign? I kind of pictured it as like "contracts". You sign a contract for a certain length of time and guarantee in pay, etc. I know the military has "contracts", too, you go in for x number of years, but it can be extended not necessarily by you, from what I understand, and there's no guaranteed out date. They decide all that, and if you leave w/o permission, you get to go to jail. You don't perform, and are dishonorably discharged, that will follow you on every job application ever.

@Darkbane: You're right, it does start off pretty dark. I'm having issues with where I'm starting it because it involves an original character. I try not to use OC's when possible, but on the other hand, the beginning, in a way, kinda follows the same pattern as the anime. So *weighs* issues galore... I'll figure it out, though. Thanks so much for reading!

Love,
Rose

OT of FMP, but I've read & seen another mercenary anime, Area 88.
I'll spare you the storyline, but a guy ends up signing a contract
agreeing to be a pilot for 3 years, under threat of imprisonment
and / or death by firing squad if the terms are broken...

...pretty good incentive to keep the terms if you ask me

I wrote the majority of this fic before the first full vol of the dub came out. Sousuke usually refers to her as Ms. Chidori. However, by the time they're sleeping together, I went with the assumption he'd be calling her by her first name for that.

Thanks for reading! :)

Figures. After they *ahem* and he calls her by her last name...

Sousuke: Chidori...
Chidori: I've just *bleep* and you call me THAT!! BAKA!!
*Sousuke gets booted out onto a VERY cold doorfront
