Hmm... I suppose for guys the sensei would be able to call them -kun, however, I was always under the impression the -chan was for much closer relationships, usually reserved for a female talking to another female, or a boyfriend to his girlfriend... and vice versa.
I guess I'll just stick with -san on that part, and I'm going to start writing part 5 soon.

Well, the re-designated it to Su-47, which would imply that it's no longer just an experimental aircraft. However... because of Russia's financial problems, I don't think it'll ever see combat time. That's what I hear anyways.darkbane wrote:lol@Berkut. i wonder if they'll keep the forward-swept wings after all? it sure looks cool, if nothing else

@darkbane
I get the impression that the S37/Su-47 was a testbed aircraft regardless of assigned designation. I may be wrong. My guess is that they will take certain things from it for future aircraft...but like with U.S. experiments with forward wing, I would be surprised if an aircraft actually gets mass produced with that geometry.
But, who can say? Sometimes fact is stranger than fiction. Newer technologies keep changing the way folks approach the same old problems.
@...damn computer acting up.
@. Gonna shoot my server.

actually, i think we'll see it fly, in one way or another (ok, so it might take yet another twenty years, heh). for putin, it would be a matter of national pride, not to mention that russia needs a fifth-generation fighter, not last for export - export of military technology is still a signifficant source of income for the federation. don't underestimate russia's ability to produce results with severely limited funding, that's what we're known for .
according to some websites that's also why it was renamed. to market it as a fighter rather than a testing platform. however, it's still far from the stage of production not least for design reasons. well, i cross my fingers

I'm still waiting for the US to phase in their damn F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, F-22 Raptor, oh... I mean F/A-22
Why was it redesignated anyway?
And that Switchblade/Bird Of Prey aircraft looks pretty good.

Bird Of Prey This is actually from an RPG type site, but if you ignore the stats and just look at the pictures, it's accurate.
Bird Of Prey stuff
And about the Raptor, I was wondering why it was changed from F-22 to F/A-22.
Wow, we got our own Aviation forum in this thread!

The evolving concept of the fighter's capabilities has led to the designation change. The change to F/A-22 reflects something similar to the F/A-18...ie future doctrines may consider a ground attack role for the aircraft.
There's an actual Bird Of Prey single seat aircraft reportedly used as some form of test bed by Boeing. But that was different than the swing wing craft imagined by artists.
There was some futuristic swing wing blended body craft I remember seeing somewhere, but I'm not sure where (Pop. Mechanics/Pop. Science?). A mind's a terrible thing to waste.

forward-swept-wing is quite difficult to realise since it gives LOTS of wing twist
Making a swing-forward-swept-wing <g> is a designers nightmare.
if anybody could pull it off it's Sukhoi (well without the swing)
I mean due to pure design they make planes as agile as their american counterparts without making it a instable POS that only gets by, by the whims of a computer.
Gawd i bet they showed a crap move like iron eagle to make the F22 pardon F/Aaah -22 do some ground attacks. "look general it fired already 20 tomahawk's on those tanks and still has some ammo left"
it's fine in the air but i can't take much punishment needed for ground work.
/me hopes for a A-10 upgrade ..

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

You mean that Iron Eagle was not a true story? Heh
Yeh, I can see the folks trying to sell the ground attack capabilities:
"Uh...should we tell them that it only has provisions to carry two GBU-32 JDAMs at this time...and we aren't certain what other capacities we can work in?"
"Hell no...just stress accuracy and precision. They like that. Oh, and two jobs for the price of one!"
"Uh...should we really mention price?"
"No! Scratch that! Bring 'Iron Eagle' with the digital swapping. And take a memo...see if we can get Tom Cruise to do a promo shoot!"

Just when I finished Part 5 at about 2:00 am, the Forums didn't work (maybe it was just me). But Part 5 was just a 2 pager and I'm going to change it up and lengthen it.
So... someday you'll see a "Part 5 Completed" on this thread...
