Part 4
Kaname was not quite sure to make of this girl. She was very…talkative, among other things. She was totally thrilled to have another girl to help. Kaname was unsure how it had happened but now she was helping make breakfast for all the boys. It was also weird to see some that were not much older than 13. But this is a Mithril operation, is it not?
“Sissy, can I have some more e-e-eggs?” said a little voice from beneath her. Kaname jumped a bit to find the smallest of the boys looking up at her. He was quit adorable. Still Sousoke was in line for a mean beating after this. Their day out had turned into mission and cooking day. Damn that Sousoke.
Natasha came over and gave Loki some food. She then did a brief story of her life. Turned out the two of them had a lot in common. Both were Japan born and American raised. Only thing was Natasha was not Japanese, she was Italian. Which explained the way she looked.
When the food was done the boys flew out the door to go play something in the parking lot. Natasha looked rather overwhelmed by the amount of dishes.
“This is just the ticket, I’m here for less than 24 hours and they already have me working.” Natasha sat down on one of the chairs, looking rather tired.
“What, you just got here?” Kaname took a seat next to her. “Dish.” The two of them were speaking English out of habit and because the boys most likely would not pick up on the slang.
“Well I came here to stay with my aunt for a year. Turns out that she is missing along with my uncle. So I was in a bit of a spot last night getting here with hardly any money and now no place to stay. So, through a rather interesting turn of events I ended up here for the night. But it looks like I might be staying here for a while.” Natasha didn’t look sad or depressed at all about this. Kaname couldn’t get a grip around this girl. Why in the world was she so happy?
* * * * * *
“Here are some of the sketches that the penciled did while she was asleep.” Darres handed the papers over to Sousoke. It was very easy to see that these were parts of an A.S. But not just any A.S., Arbalest. It was Arbalest all right, but with improvements.
“And you say that she made these in her sleep?” Sousoke looked very questioning. Something about all this just didn’t smell right.
“In word, yes; But then again not really. Natasha didn’t sit at the desk and draw them; in fact she was on the bed asleep. Things were moving around the room.” Darres showed Sousoke a tape of what had happened. It seemed to be made on a cheep video camera and the shoots were taken in the doorway of the room. It was hard to see at first but then when a shirt went flying right past the screen it was focused. Things all over the room were moving. Sousoke’s eyes widened when he saw the shots of the desk. So Darres here really was telling the truth.
“So, what’s your verdict?” Darres said turning off the tape and turning the lights back on in the room. Sousoke was not sure what the best course of action would be. He needed to contact the Captain as soon as possible, but there needs to be some kind of guard around this girl in the mean time.
“I think that we need another opinion as to what to do in long term. But for right now she needs a guard. I am already assigned to Kaname, so I could not possibly be able to guard two girls. But I believe that you and your team are trained enough to watch her for a few weeks time. To make it even easier she should just stay here. Don’t let her tell any one about what she can do, or that her aunt is missing. This could put her in more danger than we need.” Sousoke stood up and headed for the door. “ I don’t want to take any more of your time, and it is unwise for my health for me to stay here any longer.” Sousoke smiled at his jest, but if they didn’t get back to their date he might not be smiling for much longer.
*
Natasha and Kaname had cleaned up most of the dishes but the kitchen was not yet anywhere near tidy. Natasha was not sure really what Sousoke and Kaname had to do with Darres, but it didn’t bother her. Kaname had gone off on some kind of tangent and Natasha was not about to stop her.
“… But really if you ever need any help, just give me a ring and I will straiten things out for you.” Kaname finished.
“That would be really helpful. I’m sure I could use back up. But don’t think I can’t handle myself really well. As I told you I have six older brothers, I have been the scapegoat for years.” Natasha was not sure if her answer was relevant. Would Kaname notice that she had tuned her out? Natasha didn’t have to worry because at that time in came Sousoke and Darres. Natasha’s evil and inking impulses kicked in. She had a job to do.
“Well Kaname, I am finished here so if…” Sousoke started.
“Hold it solider!” Natasha exclaimed. “I can not let you leave the premises without a good check down.” Sousoke straitened up and stood at attention. Natasha gave a wink to Kaname who looked a little confused. “Alright first question, favorite color? And don’t say blue because that’s a lie.” Natasha looked almost evil doing this.
“Green.” Sousoke answered quickly not wanting to fail the test.
“Green? I had you down as more of an orange. Second question, Sunset or sunrise?” Natasha was not so menacing now she seemed to be toying with Sousoke, but she had her reasons.
“Sunset.”
“Set??? Should have known. Well you pasted solider, at ease.” Natasha looked over at Kaname. “You got yourself a good man here. He is independent and protective. Not to mention that his aura is in great condition, except for a corner on the left where he is hiding grief from the past. But that can be fixed.” Natasha smiled.
“Uh…” was all that came out of Sousoke.
“I can read auras Sergeant. I just did a quick run down on you.” Natasha walked over to Kaname. “After getting to know Kaname’s aura I did a comparison so see how well you two go together. Surprising, I have never seen a better match.” Now Natasha was not the only one smiling. Sousoke knew that she had just saved him a beating or two. Kaname liked the idea of this. Darres thought her little joke was amusing.
As Sousoke and Kaname were leaving and they were saying their good byes Darres caught Natasha, while waving good-bye to the couple.
“So, can you really read auras or are you just making up smack?” Darres asked leaning toward her but not facing Natasha.
“That’s my little secret.” Natasha said as she skipped back into the apartment.
After they had left Natasha kicked into full gear. This apartment was a wreck and she was not about to leave it this way. “Darres can you call all the other boys in. I need to have a talk with them.” Natasha then went back into the main living space. As the boys came in little by little Natasha gave each a piece of paper with a number on it. When every one had come in and Loki had a firm grip around Natasha’s waist everything was ready.
“All right! Every one got a number? Good! Now turn your attention to the scum-covered wall to your left. As you will see there are jobs for each number. This is your mission for the day. If this apartment is not in good condition by the end of the day, I will not be making my famous brownies for after dinner tonight. Dismissed!” Natasha was quite content to see the boys scatter. The way to a mans slavery is through his stomach.
“But Natasha, I don’t have a number. How am I going to help?” Loki looked almost sad.
“You get to come with me to the store and to the school. Does that sound good to you?” Natasha knew that Loki would do much better in a positive atmosphere. And from what she could tell the other boys pushed him around a lot. Not on purpose of course, but he just got in their way a lot.
“That would be great!” Loki bounded off to get his coat.
“Well if you are going to the store…” Darres started thinking about what Sousoke had said, he needed to do his job until given further instructions.
“No, you don’t. You have a job to do just like every one else.” Natasha pointed to the wall. In the largest letters was written: Darres – pick up all clothes and other junk and put in bags for the ‘games’ latter tonight. “I am fine with Loki. I am not a complete idiot. I already asked Kaname how to get to the store and what not. So I will see you when I get back. And if you see Nico tell him is not skipping chores because I will not feed him if he does.” And with that Natasha and Loki left for their shopping.
*
“Is she gone?” Nico appeared from the closet. He had always been one for avoiding work. “Is she a slave driver or what?” Nico took a seat on the chair next the Darres. Darres didn’t answer he had a glazed look in his eyes that told Nico that he was elsewhere. “I mean first that outfit she had on this morning. Then the food she made and the jeans she changed into. And now she has us all working.” Nico smiled when he saw that Darres was not listening at all. “It’s really too bad man that you are already falling for her.”
“What?” Darres snapped back to reality. He had been off in his fantasyland, which currently had some new improvements for last time. Darres was not good at keeping up his normal attitude around Nico. He always let his guard down, something he never did.
“Man, is it really that bad, already? I mean sure she’s cute, she’s got spunk, and she is defiantly a hard-core punk; all your fantasies rolled into one. But I mean honestly get a grip.” Nico was toying with Darres and he knew it. Darres was a hard egg to crack at first but once you got in it was easy to drive him nuts.
“It wasn’t like that. I was thinking about what Sousoke said. Looks like Natasha might be in a lot of danger if any one were to find out. Those drawing are off like top secret high security stuff.” Darres had gone into serious mode.
“Yeah right, whatever. Your just all flustered that there is a girl in the house and you finally got to meet your man-crush.” Nico had gone to the fridge to see what food was left. There was only one can of pineapple, beggars can’t be choosers.
“I DO NOT HAVE A MAN-CRUSH ON HIM!” Darres shouted. He was sick of Nico saying that. Was there something wrong with admiring some ones work? No, so why did he have to make is such a big deal.
“Right, and I am an international J-pop star.” It was rather pointless. No matter what Darres did Nico insist that he had a man-crush on Sousoke.
“What’s the use?” Darres muttered under his breath.
Nico picked up a scrub brush and headed towards the bathroom. “Off to my death.” Nico said leaving Darres sitting in the kitchen alone. Darres kicked one of the cans on the floor into the wall. Oh well, he would got and do his job. He was in the mood for brownies later.
*
A light turned on.
Ana put her hand over her eyes, trying to focus. She was tired and hungry. But they didn’t care. They would not do anything for her until she told them what they wanted, and that was the last thing she would ever do.
A picture of a girl flashed up on the wall. Ana kept her reaction to herself, she gave no outward sing of the shock and horror that was going on inside.
“Does this girl mean anything to you?” asked a voice coming from the man in the other room. He was using the intercom rather than coming into the room its self, Ana knew what that meant. She needed to choose her words wisely.
“No.” she answered emotionless.
“Good.” He sneered. “Then you will have not problem if we kill her.”

its one of the possiblites i am looking into.
only thing is i am not too great about getting into Sousoke and Kaname minds. i lack the ability to type as them. and i really dont want to do something that is not true to the character. so i am trying to keep the parts were they are to situations i have seen before. by that may change as i get better at this.
not only is she a whispered but she is teleknitic. which only complicates things. oh and since we havent defined her past really well there are some twists in store.
and the man-crush thing??? what could happen with that? should i make Darres a drooling fool or keep with the street kid that he is.
and Loki is he in danger. is his conection to Natasha more than normal.
Nico.... i'll leave it at that.
just some things for you mind to munch on while i ski tomorrow.

Uh-huh... So is it BS or can she REALLY read auras?Esyla wrote:“After getting to know Kaname’s aura I did a comparison so see how well you two go together. Surprising, I have never seen a better match.”
Liked it, liked it!! Don't worry about getting into Sousuke / Kaname's
minds just yet... heck, I'm 15 chaps into writing my own fic, and I
honestly can't pin Sousuke down. Kaname I have a better gripe, but
not entirely.
...IMHO, keep Darres at 'fond admiration of his handiwork.' Though I
have to wonder what happens when Natasha finds out about that, in
addition to Darres' affections for her... does she razz him about it as
well with Nico, or goto Kaname to trade pointers and see what comes
out of that
Enjoy skiing, Esyla!
