I think it probably is true, but I'm a stickler for official.
And, I don't really wanna rain on the parade, but it's possible that even though the announcment might be now, the new anime probably will not be released until next year. (If its a new tv series I would expect it to air in the spring or fall 05 season, for example).
For reference- Fumo was announced in early 03- planned for a run in spring 03, but was delayed until autumn. And Fumo was a smaller project than the first series. If its an OAV maybe in time for Xmas?
Will be nice to know there will be more, and hopefully we'll be able to determine what sort of content it'll have.

But if they're going for another 24-ep high-production values series like the first one, air dates will probably be farther off than if they're just making another half-size Fumo.
I would personally expect another tv series to be like the first- but if it is anime it could be in any form- who knows what we'd get if its a movie or OAV?
These sorts of announcments are usually made when the contracts to make it are all finalized with primary staff and the funding companies- they still have all or most of the production work to do so the more work involved the longer the wait.

I hope it's more tv anime. OAV's are usually good but there wont' be as many hours of enjoyment with them as with another tv show, and anime movies always seem to suck in my experience. (plot = nil, eyes = dinner plate size. I like anime style but sometimes it can be taken WAY too far, and usually is with the movies.)
I guess it could be either serious like the first series, or comedic like the second. I like both series equally, but I hope if it's comedic they don't overdo it on the Bonta-kun stuff. (I cannot STAND Bonta-kun, soooo retarted!!!) Either comedic or serious, I hope there's lots more romance!!

Be funny to see girls other than Kaname with a crush on Sousuke, more discomfort for Sousuke, more rage for Kaname, more competition for Tessa. Although I still think Tessa can't handle the fight with Kaname, how could she put up with more girls that don't bash Sousuke down to the ground, and don't have any power over him.
