FMP: A Dancing Very Merry Christmas Discussion *Spoilers*
Moderators: KiLlEr, HELLFIRE, Taurec
I've already read the newer chapter and I found it pretty fun!
I prefer wait to saying something before someone 'spoils' here
It's confirmed once time again Gatou is a very good writer.
It's bad the earlier novels weren't translated, but we all have to be content just to read those ones, because it generally the japanese novels aren't translated outside the Japan.

Has anyone already read the chapter 2b?
Because I would like discuss something about this novel, seeing the newfound 'interaction'.
The love triangle is practically a classical narrative technique for putting some incertainty and troubles into a plot which else it would be a bit boring or already so well-known in advance.
I personally like the Chidori-Sagara pair, but the Sagara's awakening has made him noticing other women aside Kaname, and maybe this fact made her unconsciously jealous (too much), so their relationship is becoming a pretty troublesome one.
If Chidori wants him, she has to go against Tessa who is a though opponent.
In fact I'm wondering what the exact relationship had Bunna with Tessa? (I'm referring to the previous novel)
That Bunna was a whispered and the creator of Arbalest, and he liked Tessa as it was mentioned by the Arbalest's AI.

Ah, the whole Bunny/Tessa thing. That's what I've always wondered about. We know Bunny was in love with Tessa, but have no clue as to what her feelings for him were. And if she felt the same way, perhaps her feelings for Sousuke are a by-product of how she felt for Bunny before he died.
I'm a rabid SouKana fan, but they are 16/17 year olds. Just because they have feelings for one another doesn't mean they aren't attracted to other people. Sousuke obviously has a crush on Tessa, and that proves his emotions are evolving. If he only had feelings for Kaname, you'd wonder if perhaps, with his previous naivity, he was latching onto the first girl who showed him love. His interest in Tessa I think actually emphasises his feelings for Kaname as it shows he chooses her when there are two options, rather than just going for the only girl he's close to (okay, now I'm babbling). Kaname has a thing for Leonard, even with the fact he's a psycho. It all adds a nice bit of excitement, though of course canon always wins out.

I remember reading somewhere where Tessa did love Bunny (btw, what the hell kind of name is Bunny for a guy?). Anyway, I also think that her love for him was kind of transferred onto Sousuke as a way of dealing with her loss.cultnirvana wrote:Ah, the whole Bunny/Tessa thing. As far as the Leonard/Kaname thing, I don't think that Kaname has feelings for him so much, but that both of them being Whispered somehow gives them some kind of connection, which was why she didn't beat the hell out of him when he kissed her. It wasn't so much love that she felt, I think, it was some kind of resonance with him. It'll be so much the better once both she and Sousuke just come out with their feelings to each other, yada yada yada...keeps us from having to discuss the many possibilities ^^

Thanks for the correct name of the Arbalest AI creator.
If Tessa has already had an affection experience, maybe that loss has striken her in somewhat way, thus she was closed off in her shell till she is seeing that Sousuke.
Maybe Sousuke and that Bunny have some temper similarity, in some traits which it made Tessa falling for him.
Hence we can see, that Tessa, differently from Kaname, has a quite complex personal history because she has made something of her own. Kaname has never made any feeling experience.
That fact made Tessa even a thougher enemy for the Sagara's heart because she maybe does know some 'winning techinques' that Kaname doesn't
I think the kissing by Leonard has somewhat confused more Kaname, because she felt some physical thing, but she still can't know the difference from a purely physical attraction to a certain love. And the Whispered thing has to be considered.
When five or six people share a certain mind's area, do they feel anything that the other peer feel? It could explain some particular facts.
It was funny when Kaname was bickering with Tessa and Sousuke. It's a quite childish way to make him pay for that she's thinking a kind of betraying.
I believe Kaname due her painous issues in her past, tends to be very possessive and jealous although her pride blocks her.

That's what I've always thought too. Kaname was extremely close to her mother, and when she died she lost the person she was closest too. Now Sousuke is beginning to fill that place in her life, so she's incredibly possessive of him as she's afraid of losing him, whether to his job, another girl or through death. So many people don't like Kaname as they think she's too opinionated, etc. but she's really fragile underneath and keeps up a strong exterior as she's afraid of being hurt so badly again.Kaspar wrote:I believe Kaname due her painous issues in her past, tends to be very possessive and jealous although her pride blocks her.
Exactly, Cultnirvana. Kaname is very frail inside despite her tough face. That experiece she is having with Sagara it's making her maturing through a lot of misshaps and troubles. She is becoming to learn how to relation with a very close person like Sousuke.
She still has to go over the mother's death. She have to remember forever her mother but as well learning not to be excessively dependent from someone or completely detached from everyone, e.g. she still has to learn the just way to relation.
And certainly her bad issue with her father it doesn't help her very much. Maybe she resents her father for making her stay in Japan instead to get her and Ayame together in America.
In fact in the last novel, when she found out Sagara was gone, she was strongly shattered. Now she depends so much from him she doesn't is able to give some space. That fact it seems to annoy a bit Sousuke.
In the chapter 2b, we clearly see how Kyouko is beginning to suspect something is happening around Kaname and Sousuke, something it goes behind. If the two won't pay attention, she and maybe Shinji could find out them with some serious aftermath.
In FMP the minor characters have a rather big rule, pretty meaning. Differently from the other anime, they are equally important for the history development.

Excuse me, IceQueen, the references about that Bunny, you can find in the last chapter of "End by The end", concisely in the scene where Sagara has put the Arbalest in "learning mode", but the AI has entered in a kind of special mode, built up by the constructor by the case he wasn't alive.
It was the Arbalest's AI explaining something about his creator who is a boy named Bunny, a whispered one as well. He liked Tessa. I'm using the past tense because that guy who has built it has died.
Leonard Testarossa, of course, giving that surname, is the older brother of Teletha.
