FMP Novels

Post by Shewolf of Ga »

Would anyone here who reads and writes Japanese be willing to email Gatoh-san and beg him to have his novels translated into English? Boku-tachi and all their hard work are keeping me sane, but I want to read them all!

Unfortunately emailing Gatoh-san would do little to nothing as it would have to be done by an English publisher, and he only has links to Japanese publishers. He really wouldn't have any sway as he is a writer, therefore not involved in the trademark area of publishing. It's the PR department of companies that make such things happen.

What would be much more effective would be to email English manga companies, especially ADV as they are already linked to and have made a great deal of money from the franchise. Tokyopop have already published the illustrated novels of Slayers (published originally in Japan by Dragon magazine, the same publisher as the FMP! novels) and Clamp School Detectives, so there is a market for novels. Due to the fact that the Slayers anime is an ADV title but the novels are published by Tokyopop, there is even a chance Tokyopop would be receptive to the purchase.

A petition would be a good idea. Get a high number of signatures and inform ADV and Tokyopop of the potential market (ADV first as they already have such a stake in the franchise). Then things may happen.

I was looking at Barnes and Noble's online to find some ISBN numbers (it can be /much/ easier there than Amazon) and came across a listing for a RahXephon novel to be published this year. If that's true, that's another title being published. I didn't look to see who was listed as the publisher.

I wouldn't mins laying down the cash for them. I'll take the RahXephon, too.

I just ran a search on the RahXephon mentioned above. It's not a book, per se: it's a graphic novel (manga) put out by Viz.

No, there's the 3 volume manga (which is much different than the anime) and at least one novel.

Two totally different things.

Yay! There is a novel. I shall pre-order it now. If they have a novel for RahXephon in English, there's hope for us FMP fans after all.

Not only did I preorder the RahXephon novel, I bought volumes one and two of the Gundam SEED novels. If they have Gundam SEED, they have to get FMP!

Even more hope for the FMP novels - Dar Horse will be releasing the Vampire Hunter D novels in English in the spring. I don't know how to make a linky or I would show one.
