Arbalest's name?

One thing I've found curious.

In the FMP novel translations, and here and there, Arbalest's AI is referred to as "Al." In the japanese dubs that I have though, Kalinin tells Sousuke, "This unit is a special unit and it's callsign is 'R', so bring it back." Throughout the rest of the series, Sousuke either calls it R or 'Aru' (which, IIRC is the Japanese prounounciation of the letter R).

Anyone know which is so?

it's Al. Aru is just because japanese has no sound to produce the L effect, so it comes out Aru.

Ah, I see....okay then.

I got kinda thrown off, because it seems that Sousuke alternated between Aru and R, and I thought Aru was R. Thanks!
