Tessa's brother

Alright- I really am not sure what to go with for romanizing his name-
Michelle said some japanese fan sites used Leonard.
Fujimi (does the trading cards) romanized it Renard.
Of course, Fujimi also uses Tidori

Any thoughts? Until we somehow get a more official spelling, I guess I have to go back to Renard, and use a *alternate spelling note on the site.

The hard part seems to be the large number of possibilities, and the fact that both names sound Italian.

It is french. But Rendardo is more italian. Leonard and Leonardo are equally possible, and more italian. It would be helpful if he were referred to with a nickname- 'Leo' would be more clear while 'Reo' generally doesn't work. But, given his part in the story, a nickname seems unlikely.

I prefer to romanize according to the creator's intent, here we don't know it (yet). After that, I prefer however the lisencing companies do it- in this case the only example I have right now is Renard.

IMO fan-selected spellings tend to be more commonly used but I still prefer the commercial spellings since everybody should know it (even ppl outside the fan communities)

What a pain :-x

Ugh... it would really help if someone could get in touch with the author. Although I don't see how it is possible at the moment. As for the name Renard, well... it might be possible. Alot of the people I have met from Corsica are Italian in origin, even if it officially a French province (Also the home of Napoleon Boneparte). The names there tend to be both Italian and French. Anything written on where he was born?

Maybe but I don't know- it may not have so much to do with where he was born as it might with where the parents are from.

I do know there is some cross influences between France- north Italy.

What is Teletha? I've never seen it before, but it feels greek almost.

But the author's website is here
I have no idea if there's a way to contact him through it, but there is a BBS and stuff.

Teletha? Come to think of it, it really does sound like Greek. I think I'll ask a few friends from over there about the name. Also, where a person is born can have a few influences... like say, social acceptability? Naming someone "Ivan Denisovich" in Russia is fine. Try naming someone like that in say... oh, China?

I always wondered if Gatoh had a website... I didn't expect the URL to be so.... blunt and well... obvious.

Well, I meant that if we were talking about the difference between italy and france, im not sure it would matter where he was born- perhaps where his parents expected him to live would be what mattered from your angle.
I'm not sure, if we're just talking about similar regional variations on a name, how large a difference it would make.

But, Im not sure even that would play a part in it- who knows what the author was thinking- what he meant for the bro's name to be ...we can't be sure he'd be authentic on it.

I happened to have left Renaldo off the list lol. Really, I have absloutely no idea what the intent was...

It's easy enough to input. I have the Japanese Keyboard part. Anyone here volounteer to keep watch over it, read it, and translate it to those of us here who don't understand that strangest of all written-language styles?
