Sousuke and Kaname all the way. Although I have to say that this last book made me like Tessa better...she realizes she's being childish about her feelings, and even though it was a hard way to find out, I think that what happened makes her grow up into the strong, independant woman she's going to have to be to fight the battles that are coming.

Well, thing is...What if Kaname and Sousuke are seperated for some time, as it appears they will be in the comming novel?...it's called 'continuing on my own', after all...
Do any of you guys think perhaps this will be something Sousuke would talk to Tessa about? Considering all that happened in the last novel? Do you think they'd end up crying on eachothers shoulders?
I mean...it would eventually pose a lot of moral questions if Sousuke had to rely on Tessa for friendship in the long run, wouldn't it?'
Or maybe the pace will simply pick up and there won't be much time for that. I just hope nothing weird happens, I'd be kinda pissed if Tessa ends up with Sousuke after all that happened in the last novel on account of Kaname going missing or whatever...

There are some other novels after DVMC - when Gatoh finished DVMC, he wrote that he was planning another 4 or 6 more novels.
Tsuzuku On My Own (Continuing on my own) is the next novel after DVMC, and Brandi has written that she'll be translating it soon.

I think some people are jumping the gun here- No reason why Sousuke should start to turn his affections elsewhere, know that he's gotten them clear
more or less in his mind, just because we know that they'll be seperated for some time in the story by the end of Tsuzuku On My Own. I'm pretty certain he'll be moving heaven and earth to find Kaname and get her back. I would be surprised if Da Crew (of DaNaan) wouldn't be doing their own part towards that end. After having helped out against the Behemoth in Tokyo, and of course saving the DaNaan and its complement from Gauron, she's pratically an honorary crew member. She's certainly legendary among the
SRTs assigned to the sub. ^_^

I know but...the title is 'continuing on my own' - I mean... that title can't really be read in a lot of ways...it's got to be one of the main characters continuing on his or her own after the other one isn't there anymore...for whatever reason that might be.
If Kaname was kidnapped and Sousuke searched for her for the rest of his life...he wouldn't really be continuing on his own...would he?
But yeah, I've faith in Sousuke.
Or maybe I'm just reading too much into the title?

MAJOR Spoiler (more or less):
From an interview with Shouji Gato I've read, he said that there is a section of the story line in which Kaname and Sousuke go their seperate ways foor an extended period of time, in which they both realize the importance of the other and each realizes the truth of thier feelings. They are reunited later on, but they donot confess thier feelings because of some situation.

Where could we find that interview and when in the storyline is that supposed to happen? I wonder if that wouldn't be refering to the events of ODbD because it seems to me that the issue of realizing the important of each other and their feelings was pretty much resolved in that in that novel. I don't know that I'd call their separation an "extended" period of time, but it seems to me that to run through that story arc again would be taking a step backwards in the development of the story.
EDIT: Or now that I think about it, if that interview is really true, it might have been refering to COMO and the following novels. My understanding is that there's a lot of realization going on there for the both of them. And they'll certainly be separated for an extended period of time. As for some "situation" well, we won't know anything about that for a while since the novel hasn't even been written that far.

Well, you do recal this picture right?
But yeah, I do agree it might also be reffering to mithril, or not be that important at all, but I mean...it's pretty obvious she didn't put on those chains because she's into sm or something, so it's pretty much given that she's kidnapped...if Sousuke reveal near-everything to his fellow high-schoolers, and mithril burns down, then all the more reason to believe that Kaname won't be rescued right off the bat...
this picture is also pretty late in the picture collection (nr. 18 out of 21), so I think it can be presumed that mithril won't have rescued Kaname by the end of the next novel...and since it'll be "destroyed" by then, Sousuke will be facing 'moving on' from a whole lot of things, including perhaps Kaname since, really, he's just a soldier, how is he going to track down Amalgam on his own?
So yeah, I definately see a lot of potential seperation here, particularly when coupled with the title. As for that interview, that very much looks like what has _already_ happened...I don't think that'll be repeated, I think next time they're united, they'll get it right...what with them holding hands in one of those pictures in the picture thread, it's as if they're being split apart at a point where they've almost got it right.
Another thing that should be noted is that Kaname will probably see some advances from Leonards side, once she's been kidnapped...I mean, come on...he's already kissed her...that's comming on pretty strong if you ask me...it'll be a classic villain thing, and Kaname will obviously keep getting pissed at him and rebuting him, yet...the first time, she didn't stop him from kissing her. Although that may have been because her hands were occupied with covering her breasts, it appeared to me as if she was also mad at herself for being passive and felt as if she'd betrayed Sousuke.
But yeah, this post is mostly just speculation...

Well... I can see where you're going, but you might be stretching it just a bit. She is kidnapped. Sousuke is going to have a hard time saving her on his own. But he won't be just "moving on". COMO ends with him swearing to his classmates that he'll bring Kaname back. I don't see him stopping until he's done that.AEmer wrote:this picture is also pretty late in the picture collection (nr.
She gets kidnapped towards the end of the novel, so no, she's not going to be rescued in it.
I'm not exactly sure what you're saying about the kiss but I think her passiveness was largely a result of the shock of the situation on top of all that had happened to her. The fact that Whispered tend to share some kind of strage feelings when they touch might have also further confused her. But that's just how I interpreted it.
