New FMP manga?
Moderators: KiLlEr, HELLFIRE, Taurec
Reading the blurb on that page, it says that the storyline will include the story from Owaru Day by Day, as well as new characters and episodes, and many new settings.

"
That insert suggests that Sigma will contain elements of Owari Day by Day.
"
Melissa is holding a shotgun.
A high powered rifle is sticking out of the rear window.
Her dress is very loose and sleek.
The car is shaped like it could be a fiat.
It's front panels are similar to those of certain fiats.
The car that topples around does it in a particular fashion, similar to how it's described in ODBD.
...
I think it's pretty obvious that the insert depicts something from ODBD.
Anyway, I recon they're doing a new manga because, as I've said before, the timeline of the old manga is jumbled - seasonal changes and what not haven't been occuring in chronological order, as is otherwise often the case with manga; the manga even spans an entire two summers without much chronological refferencing. There are also other problems with it, and certain arcs are far less detailed and, in my oppinion, far worse executed, than they are in the anime.
I'd presume that, in order to 'set the record straight' so to speak, and put the chronology in order, they're opening up a new series. It'd signal a sort of 'getting back on track', setting it up for a new, more strict use of proper chronological order; it is also likely that some of the episodes in the old series will not make sense on all points after the new one has been written (I refer you to Mission:35 Battlefield Christmas?! in the 6th release, as well as mission 32 5th release (quote: "Last summer, our trip to the beach ended in disaster. But this year, we're going to a friend's vecation house, and it's gonna be *great*")), if the new one is going to follow the storyline of the new novels more closely (it would kinda be expected to).
Additionally, the art style within the old manga has developed quite a bit - I refer you to how Sousukes face is drawn on frontal.. the 'Japanese wrinkles' that make Sousukes, Kanames and all the other asians eyes seem to be resting a little further back, and that makes their cheekbones appear more visible are used in a much less regular fashion in the early volumes of the manga. It wouldn't be altogether odd if the new series signifies a few additional art changes.
But yeah, main thing is probably because it's uncool to have outright contradictions within the same series - I'd personally rather place them across several.

Is it just me, or are there way too many talking decapitated heads around these days?
Update on the next FMP manga!
Hi, so I haven't introduced myself yet, but that will come later. This is more important.
WHOOOHOOO!
For those of you who haven't been over to Boku-tachi yet today (or who never go there [SHAME!]) they have a little update concerning Full Metal Panic: Sigma.
Our FMP Goddess Brandi and the team of angels are working on it AT THIS VERY MOMENT.
1) It WILL cover the novels for sure.
2)It's not being done by Tateo for sure.
It just started this month so be sure to keep yourself updated with Boku-Tachi (as if you don't...and like I said before...if you really don't [SHAMESHAMESHAME] ) Beyond that....uh I don't really know anything else.
Ok, all you non-Japanese language impaired kiddies out there, what else have YOU heard?
Oh and I apologize if this has been addressed somewhere else. I searched and found this, but I'm still kinda getting used to navigating this forum.

I actually prefer the artstyle of the new manga compared to Tateo's style...guess it's b/c they look more like the characters from the novels and anime.
Angels? Oh, I don't know about that. Hang out with them. They're a very scary group of ladies.

If it's not the same artist, and it's got a new name...I see no reason that it should focus more upon the original manga than upon the original novels.
I think it's given, though, that episodes already done in the original manga won't repeat themselves in this one. But other than that, I recon the new manga won't try to uphold any legacies.
I think any artist getting into such a project would want to do his own character research and concepts, and then utilize the style, character concepts and story structure that he/she believes to be best. IOW, I think the new manga will take several artistic liberties, just like the old one did, while trying to stay as true to FMP!, both litterally and in spirit, as possible.
A relaxed approach like that won't be able to fail, whereas if it tried to copy the former manga, it might be dissapointing when it came to the inevitable differenses. That's a lot like how the characters look very different in the original manga compared to the characters on the original shiki art... Hopefully the results will be great ^_^

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

heheh, pimping the search function is a sorry job - after all, the newbies who actually use it (read: I've been one of them) won't post that they searched... There's really no way of knowing how many people use it, only thing we get to see is how many people don't...
