SOS TRANSLATION-NEED IT BEFORE 2ND RAID

Post by E-X »

SOS TRANSLATER

Hi, my fansub group assigned me to translate FMP2…I come to realize that I know nothing about the technical names for weapon system(Ammo type, names, guns etc), technology and special terms in the series(yes I have watched the first one). Im currently getting all the old FMP1 eps as references, but I don’t think most of them have the right translation
i would be greatly appreciated if anyone can gather those information listed above(with correct spelling and translation) and more, after all I cant find many FMP fan sites
i need it before the 2nd series starts

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

So splat bullets are the same as hollow points and dum dums? I would have thought a term like "dum dum" would be refering to blanks or rubber bullets.

The 'dum-dum' was a British military bullet developed for use in India - at the Dum-Dum Arsenal - on the North West Frontier in the late 1890s.

The dum-dum comprised a jacketed .303 bullet with the jacket nose open to expose its lead core. The aim was to improve the bullet's effectiveness by increasing its expansion upon impact.

The phrase 'dum-dum' was later taken to include any soft-nosed or hollow pointed bullet. The Hague Convention of 1899 outlawed the use of dum-dum bullets during warfare.

That's correct - but in addition, in some places, the phrase 'dum dum bulllet' is also used about a full metal jacket rifle bullet (for instance) that has been had it's nose manually opened. (that's the way the dude in the airforce explained it, I don't believe I've heard it anywhere else though...he was a seargent major, but obviously he may have had his terminology confused, so clarification that goes against what I'm saying would be welcome and make this reply unnecessary)

Dum dums are very fearful bullets for anti personal compared to full metal jacket - a dum dum is able to cut off limbs or in fragmentation within a persons body making surgical removal of it practically impossible.

The fact that it's possible to do this to full metal jacketed bullets manually means that squads and companies under certain circumstances would be better off modifying some of their bullets; it's highly illegal though.

In my oppinion, it would, in order to avoid confusion, be proper to use the terms JHP bullets, or simply HP bullets, since those terms are not used about the manually modified ones.
Is it just me, or are there way too many talking decapitated heads around these days?
