Game based on Anime. Has anyone heard of.....?

OK, I really love playing this driving game don in the arcades. It's called "Max Tune 2". It's made by Namco (as per usual). NOw I was reading on GameFAQ's that it was based on an Anime or a Manga series. I can't for the life of me remember which. *sweatdrops*

Ok now to the meat of the question.

1) Was it just me who knew this?
2) Does anyone know the name of the series that namco based the game off?
3) Does anyone know if it's been Scanlated or FanSubbed?

I'll probably come up with more questions later. As in after brekky and after some more research.

CPOK's been looking for this anime too but I dunno anything about it. Saw some screenshots of the game, but it's not anything I recognize so can't put a name to the series it's suppose to be based on.

are you sure it's max tune and not maximum tune.

Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune, It seems to be based on the Manga Wangan Middo Naito by Michiharu Kusunoki not a anime.
Atleast I didn't find anything that pointed to a Anime.
Also I tried to find a OST since in most cases anime has music attached to it. Again all were pointing to game music and not a anime.

From the research I've done, apparently there is an anime series. Well at least a movie, anyway thanks Taurec-san ^^

Wo never thought I could help out on this one but I can. My friend has the game and had one of those cars but sold it since it was such bad shape.

Wangan Midnight was a manga series the story was pretty cool but was drawn like crap. It's a racing series where they race on highways with fast cars from any country not just limited to japanese cars. The main character drives an old 60's nissan 240z so highly tuned it keeps up with a new porche dam thats fast.

There was never an anime series unless you count the intro of the video game that I have on my computer. They made a live action version that's super hard to find it looked cool but is as bad as all those other live action movies.

I wish they made an anime the game intro was so cool.
