[ecs]No, he didn't. Leonard killed one of them and Amalgam's guy killed the other one in Hong Kong.[/ecs]

Please remember that things that occurred in the novel are potential spoilers for the series.

The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

My bad.
But in any case: [ecs]Considering how tragic the anime is making the sisters appear, it would seem fitting that they'd die the way they do in the novel and be killed by their fellow villains. I won't say they were betrayed because technically, they did the betraying, but it was still pretty merciless.[/ecs]

Gah. Still haven't watched the episode: judging from talk about the content, I need to find a time when everyone's out of the house...
But while we're on the subject of novel-anime correlations, what are the chances that Gates [ecs]is TSR's Mr. Kalium?[/ecs] I'd like to think that the chances are very high, but it's my theory anyway, so I'm a little biased.
EDIT: Okay, just watched it. That Gates... he's so boorish it's funny, in a twisted sort of way - I suppose Gatou wanted him to be a contrast to Leonard's elegant character. I mean, kicking the objecting soldier out of the helicopter during a commentary... at least that was meant to be humorous. But the other times, like when he shoots the other soldier in the head only to lament about the unfairness of life, it's too twisted to be funny. And don't get me started on his rendition of Ave Maria. Damn, that's just sick. (Anyone know the other song he sings, the one after the massacre?)
No comment on twincest. I mean, it's not really necessary... is it?
The Fumoffu-style bits were a little jarring, but at least they give the new viewer an insight about what school life with Sousuke is normally like. (Or for the rest of us, a refresher.) I fear that we may see less of it as the series goes on, though. And... Wraith! Too early to comment about him, though.
As a final note, I'm sigging Gates' line to 'Qaddafi'.

Probably the second season got closer to reality at a warfare. With all its twistedness, blood, violence, etc. etc.
* Origin: The real treasure lies in one's heart.
* Project: russian fan dub of the FMP! series (lead and tech), (5/24 done, 7/24 in active progress).

Not true...entirely. It's true that, yes, certain items are introduced to make the story more interesting, and the plot more enticing - the Lambda driver is the perfect plot device, since it means battles are hardly ever predetermined, and since it adds the emotional high of hand to hand combat to robot warfare - it directly links sousukes expressions with the combat action, even though the combat takes place in giant robots.
Be that as it may, however, the series uses a lot of real life firearms, weapon models, and military designations...and it also works with themes such as 'child soldiers' and 'military personel command structure' - things that are realistic in nature, and thusly gives people something they can relate to.
That this series chooses to take this a step further, and build this into the combat itself is not so surprising to me. It is far better that there is a sense of realism to help you 'believe' in the scenes with the AS's...

Anyway, just because there were boobs in the twins scene doesn't mean it was bad work - it, quite simply, wasn't out of place, it wasn't out of character, and the reason they had their clothes off wasn't because the animators made the "camera" go up beneath their skirts, no, it was because they had just gotten out of the shower...
I'm not too fond of silly fan service, but this time, it would've been silly to cover them up by placing their arms differently, or only showing them from certain angels - you might as well call that 'reverse' fan service, since that is just as 'constructed' as fanservice that doesn't fit the scene/character...
It was disturbing though, but as a scene, not because their breasts were out of place.

Is it just me, or are there way too many talking decapitated heads around these days?

I don't see how wthe boobs were out of place, they were located where they belong. (If they were, lets say, on thier elbows, then I'd have a problem)
Seriously, I don't think it will do any harm, considering that the blonde dude [ecs]was doing pelvic thrusts whilst singing Ave Maria aas a platoon was anihilated[/ecs], that would disturb more people than the topless chicks.

No offence intended, AEmer, but I'd like to discuss a point with you just for argument's sake. Hope you're okay with it.
We don't have much on character to go by at this point - the twins have been changed very significantly from their novel incarnations (and the manga ones don't have any development as yet). And this episode is the first that actually defines the bounds of OOC for them. Similarly, the setting isn't "out of place" only because there isn't much of a setting at this point - as long as the characters were relevant to the following plot (a given), it would have worked as long as it remained within the bounds of believability. Read: no Antarctica base for the twins, thank you.AEmer wrote:Anyway, just because there were boobs in the twins scene doesn't mean it was bad work - it, quite simply, wasn't out of place, it wasn't out of character,
True, true - but one wonders whether the scene needed to be added at all. Yeah, I'm a hypocrite, and fanservice is an integral part of FMP, but even so, is it necessary to push the limits that far?AEmer wrote:and the reason they had their clothes off wasn't because the animators made the "camera" go up beneath their skirts, no, it was because they had just gotten out of the shower...
