Missing Posts

There appears to have been something unusual going on lately.

I don't know how long, or exactly what is going on, because I don't have much information on it and it pisses me off.

Have you (yes, you!) noticed that posts you have made, or someone else has made, gone missing? Have you read a thread, and later returned and realized something you had read was gone?

Deleted, poof, gone? Not voided- no mod note left behind- not moved somewhere else. Just gone?

Please think hard. I want to know, who it may be happening to, in what forums it's happening, and what type of threads it's happening in.

Actually I did notice it...

it was when I made the hahahaha....america... topic Sat Mar 10...

The post went missing so I had to create a new one...
Fri Mar 11... (a few hours later when I logged on again)

btw this was before H. moved the topic from HQ to OT

well the thing with that post was that it was visible...
I went in to the OT and checked out some topics and went back to that one and it was there..
anyway I logged out

and next time I logged in, It had dissappeared.
my first thought was, a admin deleted it.
BUT since that wouldnt happen in reality on that kind of topic. (plus that u guys have never ever deleted posts without reason)
it hit me... It has dissappeared.. which made me make another one..

Ok.. how long between the time you posted it and then noticed it was gone? Any idea? Was it.. overnight... or... ?

Hmmm... sounds familiar, but I never noticed it happening here.

EDIT: No leads. Guess it was a distinctly different situation. Still, you might want to check if anyone's been doing thread pruning.

Can't say I noticed anything, but I'll keep an eye out.

EDIT: Actually, something came to mind- The topic markers aren't turning orange to show new posts, at least not in my browser (Netscape). I noticed it last night, and it hasn't changed.

prob ya web host discovered the DB was currupt or something, and put a backup on for you..

tis only a guess..
