A little project I thought of writing would be to imagine the FMP cast 10 years on. At any rate, I know of 2 people AT LEAST who'll stand by Sousuke and Kaname: Kyoko and Shinji.
Then, let's see who else... there's Hayashimizu and Ren, dunno about Mizuki...
slightly OT: If Ren and Hayashimizu get married.... what'll happen to the Mikihara-gumi? Become the Hayashimizu-gumi? *thinks*

He would be marrying into her family if he's to take over the family business.
But it would seem wiser for her to get out of her father's business. Hayashimizu looks like he'll be a politician in the future and it'd be shady if he associates with her side of the family too much. ^^;
Yeah, about Hayashimizu's dad being a high politician. I'm sure the ending has to be the touching farewell series type of ending, which almost all animes/series go for. Full Metal Panic! being as large of a series as it is in the novels and anime.

I seem to remember reading that in Japan the family name a married couple take can often be the women's name, so I guess in this case it would be too (because its the more important family)
I'm hoping for a suitably cute ending too! It makes me feel so frustrated when nothing happens with the couples I like (and I'm not talking full on bedroom scenes or anything... although that'd be good too...) just something that makes it all worthwhile!
I agree with Tulip. I hate it when my fav series ends without the guy and the girl hooking up. Van and Hitomi were separated without so much as a first kiss, ***WARNING UBER CHRNO CRUSADE SPOILER AHEAD***[ [ecs]Chrno and Rosette die in each other's arms,[/ecs] ] Sousuke and Kaname still haven't declared their feelings for each other.
Come to think of it, the only one that comes to mind where the two main characters DO hook up is the original Macross.

They hook up a lot in manga ^_^. Like, love hina, ichigo 100% (this one got weird), i''s, maison ikkoku, and almost every single shoujo manga ever written. Can't speak for anime though, since I rarely buy any.

for the title mebbe something like "fumoffo: bonta-kun's rage", but even tho using fumoffu would be nice cuz it's a pattern, it won't match because if this is the last season, it would mostly be about kana and sousuke's problems w/the living as a whispered, it'll probably not be something like fumoffu cuz the name would be too misleading
so something like "full metal panic: the angel's pain"--a blend of comedic moments and tragedy to emphasize the pain and drama?
I think there should be some sleeping scene together--bed, warehouse, no man's land, arbalest's cockpit(?)--, i don't mean sex, but sleeping together and holding on tight means something important for the both of them because it means a huge level of trust and open affection? and of course the words "i love you"

I can't imagine FMP ending without Kaname being victorious in some way (in love or survival). She's just that awesome. Well, if Sousuke screws up again... and breaks her heart somehow (like runs off to get killed), guess that could happen but that would be such a sad ending. If she's scarred by Amalgam psychologically or physically, I just hope that's not the end and we at least see an epilogue Kaname healing in Sousuke's arms. Something sweet like that.
