This is the worst episode of TSR I've seen so far. What the he** were they thinking of? They should have just followed the novel. They're cutting all these stuff to condense it, and they use a Kaname look alike to portray Sousuke's nostalgia of Kaname. Did you notice that whatever the imitation Kaname person said, was the exact opposites of Sousuke's flashbacks of Kaname? I thought that was funny, and that redeemed the episode a little, shows Kaname's true personality. ECS, [ecs]They cut off all that stuff about the person the Tiger appointed to teach Kashim, and about him telling not to drink alcohol. Next they're probably going to cut the parts about the people helping Sousuke along his way to Gauron. If it does...[/ecs]

Personally, I liked the episode. This is the first time Sousuke's ever been faced with female temptation and cast it aside because of Kaname. He went along with her probably not even thinking clearly because she reminded him of her, but after talking with her, he realized she wasn't. And even though he doesn't believe he'll ever see Kaname again, he still couldn't bring himself to go through with it, despite what he was going through.

But with only two episodes left, I hope there's going to be enough time to finish off the series with the final two scenes from the novel. And it doesn't look like there's going to be any mech fighting in the next ep. Seems like a lot to squeeze into episode 13.

At the end of episode 10 with the preview of the next episode, it says "I wandered the streets of Hong Kong. Nowhere to go and not being skillful enough to escape corruption." I think he was reminded of Kaname, but was aware it wasn't her, he just fell into despair and went along with whatever was happening around his surroundings. Unfortunately meeting the woman. She was reminded of someone who she says she used to go out with, so it worked both ways. She's an example of the Kaname never to be.

I wonder how they're going to handle episode 13.

For those of us who have already read the novel, we all know what Gates plans to do with Yu Lan's body, [ecs]or more specifically, her head :-o [/ecs]. This episode was basically Sousuke's attempt to destroy and/or lose himself; remember what he said in front of the convenience store at the beginning: "Die? That's a good idea too." Even though the Chidori look-alike was never in the original novel, it was an interesting plot device the creators of the show used without having to rely on inner character monologue (I think someone already mentioned this idea in this forum, and I completely agree). I liked the conversation between Sousuke and that girl. Telling him that it was better to run away when things got tough and that interpersonal relationships were only worth while if you gained something from them was quite interesting, considering her own personal situation. Plus, I just loved how all those little bits of Kaname got mixed in to Sousuke's own thinking, culminating in him pushing the girl away. Chidori's become a real big part of him and I love seeing his character progress, or degress at this point :-P. Anyway, I'm really excited about next week's episode: [ecs]we finally get to see Gauron![/ecs]. I hope the creators can tie everything up in these last two episodes without leaving out too much stuff.

The translation said 'there are so many things we can do with the dead body of a beautiful girl'...which is true, if you're a (sick) pervert...

That's Gates for ya...I think he's the coolest character ever :-P

 just what DOES Gates have planned for Yu Lan's body? Lessee,
he already desecrated it to that running film of kittens... what could...
awwww SHEEEEEYT!!

// runs to the head to puke

I'd have to agree with the assessment of the Kaname lookalike as being
unique. When has Sousuke been given the chance to do a total 180 on his
life and flush it down the toilet? He's been miserable, he's been inconsolable,
he's been praised, he's been kicked while he's down... has he ever had
a chance to lose his soul and any chance of redemption before?
I'm glad he did finally come to his senses at the end... kinda.

Hunter's little PO'ed reaction... more Intelligence v Operations rivalry again?

Back to the action for what's left of the ep run would be a welcome change
from this emotional rollercoaster we've been riding the last couple eps.

Best episode yet from TSR. It was suspensful and I loved Sousuke's character development.

Through two FMP seasons I've yet to see Sousuke actually think for himself. Sousuke's behavior shows that Kaname means more than just a friend to him. Now that the two have become seperated they feel uneasy and incomplete. They long for eachother and I can't wait for the reunion.

It can only gets better from here.

I think he was just pissed they failed their mission and now, there'd be full on engagement battle in the middle of Hong Kong...

My poor Sousuke! I felt so bad for him after watching this ep. And I'm even more convinced that 13 eps won't be enough to do this justice. Perhaps another season in already in the works? We can only hope...

Novel spoilers as well as possible spoilers for not-yet-released episodes. ECS: [ecs]There were two assassins, well, two brothers, raised by Gauron. One went after Kaname, the other went on the rampage in the AS in Hong Kong. After Mithril engages the AS, Amalgam units showed up, with Mister Kalium (this is probably Gates) bringing out the decapitated head and throwing it away, to taunt the assassin's brother before killing him (for overstepping bounds by stealing the AS from Amalgam). This is about as near as I remember.[/ecs] :ECS

There is absolutely no guarantee it'll turn out exactly like it did in the novel though...it's just like Gates said...there's any number of things that can be done with the dead body of a beautiful girl...
