I asked Brandi about it. The anime has a different time line from the novels. So it's off by about a year.
You're taking this all way too seriously, but:
If we only go by the data above (based on the anime), then she was 13 when entering junior high, and 16 when entering highschool. I was 16/17 in tenth grade, so there's no real reason for Kaname not to be. ^_^ Saying something like "she was set back a grade when moving to the USA" would make it possible (one way of explaining their strange timeline).
I don't think Kaname and Sousuke entered in the same year, either. Kaname should be 17 in the anime, so it's an oversight on the continuity editor's part. Besides that, noone really cares about small details like that. My personal explanation: Black Technology is causing a rift in the space-time continuum, forcing distortion bubbles to the surface.

In any case, I doubt she was held back. The anime was made several years after novel was being written. So they probably pushed the time line back so the anime matched whatever year it was being produced. In this case, it would be 2001.

Not at all. I believe I speak for a majority of people here when I say that we're here because we enjoy FMP, and enjoy talking (about it, among other things). It's all in good spirit. ^_^ Also, I was not questioning your choice of topic. So, relax, don't panic. *g*

You are right...most guys could not most likely stand Kaname unlike Sousuke. Still she seems to have hard time standing Sousuke's imagination. I mean she was not very happy that she had to jump with parashuite from aeroplane to sea and than go inside submarine to was submerged. And all that just to meet her competor who was also after Sousuke.
That's really only because Kaname pushes people away and has a loud personality to begin with. I think if she were ever really interested in a guy and could lower her barriers, she wouldn't be that hard to live with. If she really wanted, she could probably get any guy she wanted. Fortunately, her interests are very focused.

Well, he was the only other guy she'd shown interest in. You gotta think, she had a great guy who she used to be nuts about saying he wanted to be with her. No wondering or second-guessing. She knew she had him if she wanted him. Then there's Sousuke. She didn't know how he felt. She didn't know if there was any chance anything could EVER happen between them. It was a big gamble passing up Fuwa for him. But she went with what she felt in her heart rather than the logical best choice.
And that was still fairly early in their relationship. Sousuke was still relatively new in her life and she was still sorting out her feelings regarding him. I don't think she'd have even considered it after ODBD or even the end of the first season when she starts to understand Sousuke a bit.

Here? I'm sure tons of fanboys would. :/ But even in the FMP world, there's been plenty of guys who showed interest in her. Most she ignores or turns down.
She's stubborn, and that sometimes causes her into something like denial, especially about Sousuke. She also has courage in facing predicaments, but can't muster them when it concerns love interests. Good thing though, gives her more of an interesting character, and she would have been with Fuwa.

What the heck I'd offer myself to Kaname shes my type of woman
And not meaning to be biased but in my opinion Sousuke is a better man for Kaname then Fuwa but.. Sousuke should atleast take a few social lessons from Kurz as long as he leaves his perversion out of the lessons heh
