Well, a pre-licenced Geneon show, but oh well.

Anyway the jist of it is... err... Just watch the first episode.

Opening Theme "Hishoku no Sora" by Mami Kawada and Tomoyuki Nakazawa (I've Sound)

Ending Theme "Yowake Umare Kuru Shoujo" by Yoko Takahashi and Toshiyuki Oomori (Gotta love this duo, refer to the Evangelion Refrain album)

Anyway, nice animation, Ko Ohtani of Gundam Wing fame returns with the soundtrack.

Looks promising. Note that there is a manga of the same name, and also the original novels, but each seems to have a slightly different story.

His normal days that were thought to last forever suddenly ended by the encounter with a girl with red hairs and red eyes. He named her Shana.

Not long after he had entered the high school, Sakai Yuji’s normal days finished. He saw a strange view on his way home; people were frozen in the fire, and a monster looked liked a large doll assaulted them. When he was about to be killed, a girl in a black cloth holding a large sword appeared, and cut the monster in halves. Although Yuji pulled though the crisis, the girl informed him of a hopeless fact.

`You don’t "exist" anymore'

She called herself Flame Haze who hunted “Kuze no Tomogara”, intruders from another world. She explained him that he was a "torch”, a substitute of Yuji whose “existence” had already eaten. She also told him that he was a special torch, “Mystis”, which had a precious item in it. When he looked at his chest, he saw a faint flame as she said.

In this way, his eternal fight with the girl began.

Most definately agree this looks very interesting and has quite alot of
potential.... assuming they don't fall into the cliche monster of the week
formula, or flatten out the characters' personalities... Idunno, Bleach
comes to mind for some reason on both scores.

Oh yeah, Flame Haze looks so CUTE when she smiles... now if only we
could discover the secret to get her to smile on a regular basis

Shana constantly tells Sakai that he and those who vanish around him are just torches which seems cruel. However she called her self just a flame haze with no name. I believe that at one point she felt just like Sakai being a tool of the system.

She is just being blunt with him so he can understand the what's going is reality and I don't hold anything against her for that. I can relate because I dislike being around sheltered individuals.

Anyway, it's hard to swallow to know you're already dead and that the life you live is meaningless.

i really am enjoying this series, it is up there (we'll see where it goes), can't wait for epi 3

is it goin to be 26 episodes or 13 or what?

...high on my 'to watch' list for sure! At a guess 26 episodes, i can't see
them doing this story in 13. Hoping Geneon gets off it's duff and has
preproduction for R1 already in the works

#3 was amusing and interesting at the same time. Here I was thinking
Shana coming to school'd lead to something boring, but she goes and pwns
all the teachers around... her speaking engrish was a catcher

Just when
you thought it'd be a sop ep, the grand master of evil comes in and causes
alittle damage... and some things are explained.

Ya think it's love between Shana & Sakai? Idunno, her character's more
interesting as this unfeeling, sarcastic force of nature than as a person
who has some desires and likes of her own, but that's just me

BTW, that blonde with the sarcastic book... I haven't heard such an insulting
partner since Vampire Hunter D and his right hand (literally) *ROTF

Shana is scheduled for 2 seasons which means 24-26eps(yea!)

Shana will indeed have a love love relation with Yuji(hell she even calls him by his name...read book 8 or 9 of novel)

Shana X Yuji X Kazumi triangle coming up

Shana appearing more cute in later episodes(a huge YAY!!!)

go watch ep 04... Shana fan service gallore..(makes me wanna kill Yuji)

We need an unfeeling exterminator guy we get someone like Ichigo. We
need an unfeeling exterminator girl, we have to pull out every fanservice
trick in the book.... makes ya wonder.

episode 4 was awesome, haha, they were both so embarassed and shana punched him hard

we got to see the new girl too; she seems quite timid, i like shana better

i also found it amusing shana getting distracted fighting the blonde girl and the whole time she's like "why do i have these feelings!?!" and alastor either is clueless as well or didn't say anything

ahhh this is most likely my favorite series (black cat is 2nd as of now, not sure where paradise kiss is yet)

I loved Marjorie Doe's partner. A loudmouthed, insulting, crude book.

Shana's comment about her coat having all she needed makes me wonder why she didn't request it to give her pajamas.

Hmmm... Sakai is making Shana create an identity for herself beyond being a "flame haze." Didn't she start to unconsciously start to see him as more than a Torch when she saw his flame reignite? I can see why she's so emotionless, at least towards Torches. Why care for someone/something that was going to disappear in the near future? The only "person" she cares about is Alastol.

What is he, anyway? His explanation didn't explain much. How did he "recruit" Shana? Hmmm... a torch is a flame... Maybe she was a Torch that he "rescued" just as she was about to dissolve? That could explain her apparent lack of memories before being a Flame Haze.

hmm u got a point there... perhaps shana was once a torch and sort of like chrno crusade's rosette, she actually formed sort of a contract with alastor so that she can live on... but maybe we are wrong... oh well this series is interesting enough, ep 5 bring up a new hero... and err i think majore is not really a "good" character... while shana only wanna kill the hentai doll lover, Majore wants to kill all the guzes and according to alastor not all the guzes are evil...
