Yeah, specially when he thinks about the running and crying guys that he has killed, the trucks filled of new recruits that has bombed, and POW's killed to keep a low profile, damn, totally "anti-Gynebra Declaration", but oh well, they're mercs

Wow. Intense stuff. I like the angle they took on Sousuke. He wasn't always the perfect warrior of justice. He was just a soldier carrying out orders. He did what he had to do. But now he can reflect on his life and have regrets. It gives his development as a character a lot of depth.

I also liked how Sousuke was planning to ask Kaname to basically elope with him, but couldn't bring himself to do it. Very sad. :(

Amalgam is pretty hardcore. :-o

It is interesting that Sousuke was thinking of asking Kaname to run away with him and leave behind everything. His entire attitude is much different from his previous one--in the past he was unable to completely seperate from Mithril (or fighting at least), and he followed orders with little independent thought. Now he appears to crave peace for himself as well as for Kaname; a chance to live without violence or war.

On another note, it doesn't seem that he can tell Kaname that he loves her any longer (as he had once intended to do). His openness with his feelings have digressed after Leonard's comments. Now more than ever he is reminded of his past and present occupation, and sees quite clearly, a killer, a monster behind his reflection. In his broodings, Sousuke believes that Kaname too, must see him much the same way.

At this point Kaname will need to confirm her love for him openly before he responds in kind, because at this time, Sousuke isn't willing to accept that he can be loved by someone as pure and innocent as her; prehaps unable to recieve love from another at all.

i think he dosnt have to tell kaname that he loves her because she already knows that, and she dosnt have to tell him that she loves him because he already knows.

I disagree, Sousuke wouldn't be having doubts if he already knows that Kaname loves him. They haven't even said it to each other yet so they wouldn't have any confirmation regarding their mutual feelings. I think that will happen later on in the novel.

On another note, that was an intense display of advanced technology there by Amalgam :-o WOW! They really caught Mithril off-guard.

Anyway...

On some level, I'd say that Sousuke and Kaname know each other's feelings. Sousuke knew that Kaname wouldn't be happy when Tessa was in his shower. When she asked if he'd miss her, he beat around the bush with his answer because he figured she'd be jealous. And he must have known that she'd probably be okay with holding hand before he asked. Kaname's had a few occasions when she hinted at Sousuke's feelings as well.

Unfortunately for them, they keep going back and forth though. The instant Kaname sees something a little off, she usually assumes the worst and figures that it means there was never anything between them. And then there's Sousuke who right now is assuming that no one could ever love someone like him.

Makes things complicated for them.

I agree Weltall. Both Sousuke and Kaname realize on some level that each habors feelings for the other, but until one of them initiates a clear sign of this affection, (most noteably through verbal confession to the other) their doubts and insecurities will continue to plague them.

It's been what? Nine months that they have known one another? I think it's about time.

I was just joking.

To me it seems that Kaname and Sousuke contemplate more on how they feel about the other and how to sort it out in a logical way more than they worry if the other feels the same way. Kind of messes up their progress.

Well, I'll agree with that. They seem to have a better grasp of how the other person feels than their own. I think the biggest thing for each of them to overcome will be their own insecurities about themselves rather than fear of rejection.

Leonard's comment: aimed more at Chidori or Sousuke?

I wonder if it wasn't more so forcing Chidori to acknowledge Sousuke as a murderer than making Sousuke acknowledge the vast amount of people he has killed--realize the gap between the number given and the true number... Sousuke must have killed a lot more than just 100 given the length of time he's been fighting. Or maybe I'm reading too much into Sousuke's introspectiveness. It might just be pointing him as a killer, assigning a semi-accurate body count, and that's it.

I don't think Leonard could care less what Sousuke thinks. I'm sure he's just trying to stir up crap between Sousuke and Kaname.

And I suspect that Sousuke has a much higher body count than 100. :/

I know what you mean, but three is an odd number. Why not just say a nice, even ten? I'm not saying he has a body count of 100 (should be far more), but I can't understand if that statement had special significance or what. Not that it matters much... It's a moot point either way I guess.
