Remember, Kalinin might have been an officer in the Spetsnaz, but Mardukas was one known as the [ecs]"Duke"[/ecs], and so was captain of his own submarine I think even in the Falklands War. So, in that sense, Mardukas surpasses Kalinin in naval tactician, knowledge, and experience by a very large gap. Also, Marduka's the one who takes charge of the Tuatha de Danaan when the captain, Tessa, is away.

What I don't get is why some sites say that Melissa is of one rank higher than Kurz and Sousuke, when she is a Sergeant Major, and they are Sergeants. She would be of 5 ranks above both of them.

That was a very long quote, well I know that there is such a thing as a field rank so would it be correct to assume that Tessa's field rank is captain?

I believe she is a colonel, which if you compare it to its equivalent in the Navy, it would be a captain which complicates that she is the captain of the TDD-1. I'm speaking about the US military's system though.

Its only Tessa HF...now if it was Kyouko it would be a different story.
