Ahh, straight from the source! Thanks axephil 8)

Now its going to start going downhill as in FMP's ending.

The thing about Kaname dimming in Sousuke's mind and then coming back blazing hot when it counted is something I want to see.
Me, too :) Also, the author states in the prologue that the climax is actually yet to come (or that it's still building up)...sounds like fun to me ^^

Out of Mind, Out of Sight. :-P

I think Sousuke's just one of those guys who wouldn't mind having a different girl in every area code. 8)

What a player, :bows down to Sousuke's pimpness:.

Hahhahahahaa. :-D

Weltall Elite wrote:Alright, I guess I'll say something after all. I think that if anyone but Gatoh had written something like this, I'd have said it was a mischaracterization being used to force a dramatic plot element. Drama and tension is all well and good, but I just don't see Sousuke developing this attitude. I said before that I would be disappointed in Sousuke if this was an attitude that he'd allowed himself to develop over time. And it turns out that that's the case. But not only did he start to give up on Kaname, but he was letting himself get drawn to another woman. Even if it's just temporary, I can't seem to reconsile it. And if he did it with Sousuke, I think there's a good chance he'll do it with Kaname too. In fact, I wouldn't doubt that him doing that with Sousuke was just an excuse to justify doing the same thing with Kaname. And when that happens, my respect for her will drop too.

Yes, the way you describe it sounds touching and dramatic at all, and maybe he did it in a way that somehow fits the character and when I read it, I'll see that. But right now, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I mean, put it in context. I know you say it's human and all, but what if your parents or children or spouse or someone close to you were kidnapped by terrorists? How far would you go to get them back? Would you ever even consider giving up on them? I couldn't fathom the idea.
Actually, I can imagine. After all, one's passion can only fuel you so far. Consider how Sousuke had been searching for several months (I think) - and to the best of his knowledge, Mithril no longer exists, Arbalest lies in pieces with no hope of repair, and Kaname is definitely beyond his reach. (Not to mention that he's probably flat broke by now.)

One Man Force, yes. Burning, not that likely.

Since you mentioned terrorists, I'd bring up a counter-example. (Nothing personal.) Following 9/11, it's a given that many who lost loved ones would love to personally put a couple of slugs in Osama's head. But is it within their power to do so? Not likely. So what can they do? It's not that the pain goes away, but that time deadens it to an extent, and I'm surprised that Sousuke held out for that long.

Well, I don't agree. But I already promised I wouldn't say anything more on the issue, so I'll leave it at that.

When the story begins, it's been 6 weeks since the end of COMO. I can't be sure, but I think he spends a few weeks (although that is my best guess) with Nami and the others.

The climax is going to be something we would never have dreamed of. Gatoh makes these stories so intricate and random that I can't guess anything that might come in the future.

No new chapter of FMP in this month's magazine, either :( Oh, well.

I see. But either way, he's without hope.

And yeah, Weltall, you're right. We'd better wait for the actual text before passing judgement.

Question (spoilers):

[ecs]Am I the only one who noticed that at the end of the book, the person Wraith meets up with for the ARX-8 is Mr. Hunter? That's the guy from ODBD, if I'm not mistaken, who was also from the Intelligence Agency. Now I really wonder what's going on. Obviously, he already knew Wraith b/c he was talking to her in ODBD, but I wonder what Wraith plans on doing with the AS...[/ecs]

Actually, the synopsis in the Animesuki thread didn't give the man's name, so we were mostly in the dark. Logically, it was no surprise, but when it comes to drama, Gatou picked a pretty minor character for the job.

And moving the talk on the [ecs]ARX-8[/ecs] here... Do I still need spoilers for this?
Pyrite wrote:[ecs]I'm kinda disappointed with the ARX-8 designation, actually. I was actually hoping for something closer to "ARX-7 Kai" for the sake of nostalgia.

Or maybe "Great Arbalest". Or "Shin Arbalest". Or "God Arbalest". [/ecs]
Wild Goose wrote:And lol on all of those names... no, better yet! [ecs]"ARX-17 Arbalest Mk.II", or "ReArbalest" or "Strike Arbalest" or "Infinite Arbalest."[/ecs]
Actually, I don't find SF and IJ all that objectionable, compared to stuff like, say, "Heavyarms" and "Tallgeese". Or, worse still, "Virsago Chest Break" and "Ashtaron Hermit Crab". (Not counting stuff like UC's "Hazel"...)

Anyway, back to FMP: since the naming scheme is based off medieval weapons:
ARX-6 = "Halberd"
ARX-7 = "Arbalest"
[ecs]ARX-8 = "???"[/ecs]

From polearms to crossbows... [ecs]What next, "Zweihander"? "Claymore"? "Shamshir"? (Yes, I find the lack of swords surprising.)[/ecs]
I wonder... will the JSDF even get their hands on the M9J Samurai? ^_^
I must've missed that model. Is it a product of your imagination, or was it mentioned in one of the released chapters?

If I had to guess, I'd say the next and final one will be a sword. And if they want to be really cliche, they'll call it Excaliber.
