They probably don't use archaic Japanese weapons since most are elegant, and ASes might be better represented with "tougher" weapons.

The M9J Samurai is the product of my subconsious. I had a dream of Shinji paradropping out of a C-5 in an M9 in JSDF colors, fighting off JSSDF forces about to take over NERV.

I have a crazy theory that's been chewing on my brain for a few months now. If it were true, it would make for an interesting twist as well as explain certain things. I'm sure someone else has thought of it, but I haven't seen it discussed before.

Theory:[ecs]
Maybe, just maybe, Sousuke is also a Whispered.

Think about it. Very little is known about his past. We don't even know his real birthday (and Gatou has clearly set up December 24th birthdays as a clue to Whisperedness), but he's the right age.

On top of that, he seems to have a strange ability to attract Whispered women. Could this been some sort of subconscious resonance that draws Whispereds together? Could that also be why Leonard is so set on having Kaname for himself? Was that part of the reason why Tessa was involved with Bunny? Someone mentioned a few pages back that Nami felt that she was supposed to be with Sousuke. Perhaps that's a result of some sort of inbuilt Whispered programing.

Then there's his ability with the Lambda Driver. True, when he's unsure of himself, he's not so good with it. When he gets his head together, however, (see the end of End Of Day By Day) his ability is extraordinary. He astonishes Amalgam's "execution squad" but surpassing them with what was presumed to be an incomplete machine. The only piolet that can top his Lambda skills is Leonard (a known awakened Whispered).

Now, clearly, if Sousuke is Whispered, he has not yet awakened to his "gifts." I could see Gatou making that being part of the final chapter in the FMP saga.

I know it's a bit far fetched at this point and I'm not convinced of it myself, but I though it could be fun to discuss. Any thoughts?

It's an intriguing opinion, but I don't think I would agree:

[ecs]Because in the end of BOMF, when Nami and Kaname are speaking, Kaname asks Nami if Sousuke's special b/c he's met with so many Whispered...and Nami replys that no, he isn't special...he's completely common. For some reason, I doubt the ghost of a dead woman would be mistaken about something like that (I could be wrong, though ^^). That's just what I think.[/ecs]

i thought about that same thing awile back also. that would be weird if he was a whispered.

I think I know the answer. It's as simple as that Sousuke is the male protagonist of the story. That means there's gotta be more than one hot female going after him.
Very good theory. I never thought about it.

So why exactly is Chidori willingly helping Amalgam create weapons of war? From what I have heard of what happens at the end of BOMF, she is actually helping them develop an improved version of the Behemoth? Seems rather OOC for Chidori considering that she is against almost all forms of killing.

i believe it was to keep sousuke and her friends safe.

What would you do if someone had your family and all of your friends basically held hostage and one flip of a switch could have them all murdered if you even talked back?

I don't think she is "willingly" helping them, she is doing it to keep her family, friends, and Sousuke alive. (remember the entire reason she went with them in the first place)

She's probably putting some bugs or hidden backdoors in all her programs/creations. I expect her to do every little thing she can get away with.

I'd have to agree with Circle, if Kaname is staying true to form. I could see her trying to get away with subtle rebellions, although typically she's not what I'd call a subtle girl-unless it's some Otaku and her feelings.

After all she is a whispered, so unless they have Leonard or another freely cooperative whispered assisting by looking over the lines of code or schematics, I'm not fully sure they could find something if she hides it in the middle of technical jargon.
Then again, that's also presuming that Kaname could control her whispered state. I've not seen or heard a whole lot, but it seems like for the most part she doesn't have a whole lotta mental command. Except maybe when she's really ticked off/frustrated (ie. prior to her surrender).

Then again maybe she's too worried about everyone else (and possibly a small part doubtful that anyone would be able to find or save her / infiltrate or defeat Amalgam with Mithril seemingly decapitated) to even try being sneaky for fear of being caught and others being punished.[/ecs]
