Any given day.

They're of comparible skill levels in different areas. So it'd come down to how well they could play up their own strengths, cover their weaknesses, and handle their opponent's strengths. So if they were allowed to use any means to fight one another, it'd probably come down to wits. And that being the case, any given day, anyone could win. If they fought each other a couple times, I think they'd both have a few victories for each of them.

The same could be said if you threw Sousuke in the mix. Unless of course, if he had Arbalast and used the Lambda Driver. Then I think he'd have a very unfair advantage over them.

I want to know what happens in the novel where Kurz and Sousuke are arguing who has the better tactics, and they both give accounts of their battle between each other in Lebanon when they didn't even know who the other person was in their mercenary days.

If I had to guess, I'd say it ended in a draw.

But I think Sousuke's gotten considerably better since then. The way DVMC started out, I think Sousuke was starting to make piloting his AS more of an art, and therefore being more effective. But that doesn't say anything about combat outside of an AS.

Kurz Webber sucks at close range combat. He nearly got himself cut to pieces by one of Gauron's traitors in the second to last ep. of the original series, and Mao had to come in from sickbay to save his sorry ass. He does, however, excel at snipering and apparently can shoot straighter than anyone since Vassili Zaitsev. If he can take the long range advantage he could beat Mao. Mao would definitely have the upper hand in close quarters combat, though, so any duel between them would certainly come down to wits. It would appear these same considerations would apply even in AS combat. Their personal fighting styles reflect their AS fighting styles.

ACtually, those are good points. Note that all SRT AS pilots are supposed to do double suty as commandos, even though they're mecha jockeys. Quite a difference from the average macha jock out there.

Kurz's sniping is GODLIKE. (cf sniping the Behemoth's head vulcans.) Mao, though, is better at CQC and close range combat- guys, she IS a Marine, remember?

I'd say, longrange.... Kurz can win if he gets to a sniping spot. Mao wins short range.

Souske pwns both with traps and Lambda driver.
