Animation - How much do you think'll get it?

Post by dr_haro »

Given the fact that TSR has evidently done well enough to warrant a new OAV addition, I think it's safe to see we'll see more of novels animated into series.

Question is, what'll be animated, and what won't?

Personally, given the fact TSR closed out on a happy, albeit loose ending, it's possible the next series could be another Fumoffu type deal. Though, a comedy story that could have been saved for a new Fumoffu series is being attached to TSR instead, so that may not be the case.

The rest of the main story probably will be animated. But will it be more 13 episode series, or a 24-25-26er? Since TSR managed to cover two novels in 13 episodes, I think it's likely the rest of the subsequent series will do the same.

I like the idea of doing a comedy series before covering COMO. And DVMC be the first part of the series afterwards... so like DVMC will cover 5 episodes, and COMO will... well, since that arc doesn't even end after BOMF, maybe just do DVMC as an OAV/movie and hopefully by the time the comedy series and DVMC OAV is over, then Kaname will be rescued in the novel and that whole arc can be done in one new season.

personaly I'd love to see a series with 24 episodes again.
after watching tsr, I started to read the novels and I realise that they missed out all that that little side-story stuff. they only scratched on the surface. 13 episodes are just not enough.

the more animated fmp the better

I think one of the most important things they missed in TSR was Bunny's message for Al's pilot. It's short but gives some vital info about the nature of Al and his creator. As the scene is, they cut out all but Bunny's name practically.

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

whoa where'd you get that info?
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Well, putting side-story material in the middle of TSR would have been kind of awkward, don't you think?

I should also point out that the biggest criticism on FMP!'s first season was it's lack of focus. It contained so many seperate stories that viewers felt lost at times. In Fumo and TSR, that didn't happen. Fumo was comedic short stories, and TSR was a dramatic atory arc... the two didn't blend any of the other's elements, and as a result, TSR came out MUCH more dramatic than season 1 did overall.

I liked the change of pace and stories in S1, imho it kinda balanced the whole package deal.

imho TSR could have used a little more humor (and episodes) ,, (thank heavens for Gates)

yep, I agree to that. For me all the sidestory-stuff, little hints about characters/relations etc. and subtle jokes make a story realistic and interesting.
but haro I get your point.maybe the thing that dissatisfied me about TSR was that not enough of overall story was revealed.
I missed the "Aaaah", "w00t??", "wow..." and "wtf??" moments :-D

I did too. However, if you read around on reviews for FMP! season 1, you'll see the complaint of lack of focus in the series in some reviews. Too each their own I suppose; some didn't mind the mix, but some did.

However, those critics, they'll probably absolutely love TSR. :)

Hm, so would you think it a good idea if I went back and read the TSR novels? ODBD I think it was xD I already read all of DVMC, and what Boku has out of COMO, I was sorta thinking "wth" when people was mentioning somone named Bunny in that BOMF (i think thats it) thread, but I sorta figured on my own he made Al.

(I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have to ECS any of that, if I should have I'm sorry)

You should. Lots of minor details were left out in TSR, and ODBD's little embellishments and changes actually add up to better pacing and characterisation. Only thing is, [ecs]don't except hawt lesbian twincest or Chidori-clone hookers[/ecs].

lol I won't, but what exactly was the reason for him replacing the brothers with sisters? (Still haven't read ODBD, I will later tonight or sometime tomorrow, but I read about the replacement in another thread)
