I have the same issue with the regular FMP manga (not the Ikinari), where the first 3-4 were a tahitian red, but then for 2 issues it was more yellow than red. The last couple were a darker red. |*=*|

Aaah, ok, pulled out the first series books I have up here.
Japanese vol 3 really is very dark, reddish orange. The rest do seem to use 2 or 3 different oranges that are all very very close. The covers all seem different, but I think it's the screentone that mostly alters the appearance of the orange, cover to cover.

Compared, ADV's vol 7 looks really good! Same colors and tone, crisp lines, ect. But with v6 the colors are blurred and darker. Passable, IMO, since it requires a comparasion to see, and the linework is still sharp. In my memory some of the other covers were really bright, but I don't have the other vols atm.

BUT, I do have overload #1 in hand now, and it also has a problem with white=grey. More like vol 2 than 3, but plainly an on-going issue. In the credits of FMP! 7 and O 1, the editors and graphic artists are all different people.

I don't expect perfect reproduction, but something that doesn't look like a 30th gen analog copy, please!!

I'm more familiar with digital presses than regular print ones, and I don't know
how prevalent digital is in the manga industry. Either way, neither's perfect
and regular presses can spit out whacky colors just as easily as digital
presses. It comes down to the 'oatmeal or bacon for breakfast' arguement.

Then again, I also have fond memories of ALL the color machines in the shop
down and stripped to the guts by TWO service techs because the client
said what was getting spat out didn't match what we gave them before...
for the entire friggin' day!

I thought they were supposed to be like that, so when you put them in a row, they had a sort of gradient effect? I dunno...

Mine have the same issue, but not in the same order of volumes.

My v1 and v2 are really dark orange, the rest (3-8 ) are all consistant though (light orange). I kinda figured it was an early print thing, and something they changed along the line... guess not though :x:

Amazon doesn't seem to have it yet, and my local Borders stores are all still listing it 'pre-order'. Borders will start showing it in stock when the local stores receive the boxes- but they still have to wait for someone to shelve em.

It could just be that the books are still in transit and stores are yet to receive them. Most books either don't make it on the shelves by the release date, or they arrive and shelve early. Only the major releases get out on the date.

Could be another delay. If it's a short one, ADV probably woudn't announce it, given the thing about getting them on the shelves on 'the' date.

Release Date

Post by SagaraKaname »

I went to my local Borders and you can order it, but when I went to the Borders Express and asked about the release date the associate said sometime in April but he couldn't get an exact date. :wall: (Amazon has also changed their shipping times from between 2-3 weeks to 3-6 weeks). *growl* I hope it hasn't been delayed again.

a friend of mine works as a manager for a Walden in orlando, and they had overload 3 a long time before everyone else, and also had the Gravitation Novel, so I'll ask her if she knows anything.

Thought I'd point out that Amazon changed the "Publish Date" to March 29th a few days ago.

I think it's now official; no one has any bloody clue just wtf is up with this book's release date

ADV hasn't had the best of track records for putting titles out on time... let's just say
Some distros get lucky... other's are stuck spinning tires in mud

animenation is now claiming it ships same biz day, while the status at amazon hasn't changed.

And bordersstores.com says it's in print, but it's still on order from my local stores.

edit- animecornerstore.com also got their shipment in. So it's definately arriving. Along with v9.

Sorry - a chain of japanese bookstores. They have a small handful of locations in a few major US cities.
