FMP: Continuing On My Own Discussion *Spoilers*

I'm not saying that Clouzot is the right spelling either (since there really is no right spelling)- but there's no way it's Grouseaux. The name doesn't even start with a "G" in japanese. Sorry, that just irked me when I watched the sub.

As others have already mentioned, it's nice to see a touch of humor in the wake of many depressing situations, so I was glad for that. And I should think that at least Mao and Kurz will make it through, though you can never take anything for granted with Gatoh. Each character is faced with their own inevitable doom it seems, and with many people dying left and right, one can only hope that they pull through. I can particularily see Clouzot dying for some reason. If not now, then later. He just seems like a character that is expendible, yet still would produce a great deal of empathy at his loss. Which sucks, because Clouzot kicks ass. Here's hoping none of the characters die.
Oh, and I would also like to once again thank Brandi and the rest of the people at Boku-tachi that are involved in bringing FMP novels to the many leechers.

Until I get over my "Grouseaux WTF" phase, I'm sticking to putting in multiple romanisations. (I actually like "Clouseau". Pink Panther all the way, no? And like it or not, I think the producers actually picked that romanisation, Hooked on Phonics be damned.)sj4iy wrote:I'm not saying that Clouzot is the right spelling either (since there really is no right spelling)- but there's no way it's Grouseaux. *hides shotgun, whistles innocently*
I think that the Pink Panther may have been the inspiration for the name- but even then, when ADV licenses it, they'll screw up the romanization (Urzu? Geybo? What friggen idiots are they that they couldn't pick up on that one?) *sigh* Wouldn't even surprise me if they managed to screw up Wraith somehow. Romanizing names can be such a bitch sometimes :/
Anyway, fun stuff. Clouzot's too awesome to die, imo. He has a pretty sweet AS, too.

I really hope Kurz doesn't buy it as well.
Then again, mind you, so far, Gatoh has been following what Dale Brown does: kill off all the nameless background charecters whose names are only revealed because they're gonna die, and while they may be background charecters, their deaths will have a negative impact on the fighting ability of the heroes.

Alright, this has got to be one of the best FMP novel chapters I have ever read, in my opinion for a number of reasons.
[ecs] We get to see Wraith as her real identity, and see her kick some major ass. We get to see a new badguy introduced as Kurama. We get to see Kyouko discover Sousuke's real identity and her subsequent fate after the rescue. And lastly, we finally get to see Sousuke shine again in a whole chapter devoted to his plotline. [/ecs] Not that I wasn't happy with the attention to Mithril in previous chapters.
Anyways, definitly an action packed, tense and dramatic chapter, effectively working its way toward the climax of the novel, and I have to say, COMO has been one wild ride. Many thanks to Brandi and the rest of Boku-tachi for such quick releases. I never expected to see the next chapter so soon.

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

In the part earlier on the page, where Kaname is blaming herself for Kyouko, it says "then she heard the voice of the young man trying to kill the other important person to her"- meaning Leonard. That conversation is what she's hearing (Whispered conversation, in her head) between her and Leonard.BlueSails wrote:I don't really get the short dialogue at the start of page 15, could someone explain who's talking?

I think many would agree with me when I say that COMO has been thus far the best novel in the FMP series. This book rarely ever let up in its pacing, particularily in the last few chapters, and chapter five was no exception.
Finally getting to see Leonard fight in his AS was quite interesting, as the readers are shown the full potential of a whispered pilot and the amazing and extensive capability of the Lamda driver. Truely Sousuke was outclassed in every way, and I would greatly like to see this fight animated as I'm sure that would flesh out the spectacular movements of the Verial. However, despite Sousuke getting his ass handed to him, his unwavering determination and ceaseless efforts to counter-attack were so admirable that his easy defeat was not so much pathetic as that much more heroic. And I would like to know what it was Kaname said to Sousuke before she was taken away. I'm sure we can guess, but I don't believe it was ever actually indicated.
On to Mithril. I'm glad to see Yan was kept alive, although when he got shot up I wasn't surprised that Gatou might kill him off. But he's alive, so all the better. And Mao's entrance was well executed, and none too soon for Tessa. Nice to see her get a moment of glory since Kurz seems to be stealing a lot of it in this novel. Of course, her entrance was good, but Kurz's was better, as is his usual fashion. I was most pleased to note that Clouzot and him managed to make it out alive, although I was pretty confident both would. And of course, the battle was rough and the end rather depressing, but Kurz somewhere along the line managed to recover his cocky wit. I laughed at his "Aren't we amazing?" line, and for once (actually I think twice), Clouzot had to agree.
The author's notes at the end were interesting as well. What was with those alternate premises for BOMF? It's a good thing Gatou didn't decide to go with those, because I have a feeling most of his fans would hunt him down and (censor) (censor). (Fill in censors as you will). Of course, that's his sense of humor and I'm sure an attempt at lightening up rather dark tone we are left with at the end of the novel.
Anyways, thanks Brandi for all your hard work. Your efforts recently to bring us three releases of FMP in less than three weeks is quite extraordinary. Also a nod to Boku-tachi for all the editing, proofreading, etc. And another nod to the host of the http downloads, as I am one of the many who relied on it for access to the files.
If you haven't read all of COMO, do it now people! Let's get this thread moving!
