That was probably just an excuse, cause the global power USA lost against such a small country as Ghana (!!) with about 1.820.806 inhabitants
First, I was more pissed about the Italian game where thse US got hit by 2 reds card in a 5 minute span.
Second, "foul" that produced the penalty kick in the Ghana game would never been called in any other game i have seen this Cup except for this game.
Third, the ref blew a call in the Korea-swiss game. The side judge brought his flag up but the ref over ruled him. everyone is taught in this game if you see the flag go up, you stop or you get a card, but the Swiss didn't and the goalkeeper was all alone versus one of the forwards of the Swiss.
the Officating of this Cup is horrible. One game this cup produced 8 yellows and one Red card.
This isn't just a US thing, but it is a cup wide thing.

Haven't been watching all the matches, but from the reviews, it seems that the ref in the hottest water right now is England's Graham Poll. He apparently yellow-carded the same Serbian player 3 times before the red card (and for reference, the second yellow card = sending off).
Having said that, it could be that the players are going nuts. I mean... elbow to nose?

Man, I watched that game with Korea vs. Switzerland. My dad, bro, and I were just staring when it happened. Nobody made a noise. It was so unbelievable. The assistant reff clearly had his flag up and kept it up. He tried to argue with the head reff but the frickin idiot overruled his own assistant reff. What country was that reff from?
You could tell the Korean players were pissed as hell. The commentators said something that I will forever remember, the old adage that you should play to the whistle, not the flag.

Well, I never got out of the pool play in my bracket.
Chezch Republic, Poland, Japan , and South Korea didnt make it out of Pool play.
So then I remade another bracket for those that made it out of pool play.
Mexicans and the Dutch didnt make it out.
(I had the Americans as Third in thier pool. Above Ghana. See how that worked out.)
