Hello, I have no idea if this board is used very much, seems to be, and apologies if this has been anwsered a hundred times before, but I just can't seem to find any answers.
I've just recently watched the FMP series which was from the beginning, right up to the FMP: TSR OVA. I started trying to look for the manga or something that would continue the story line, but does one exist? I've noticed a book come out in march only two months ago, and I happened to read the synopsis which said about Gaouron taking over the ship, but I don't really get it. How can a new book come out when its already been animated a long time ago, I thought the books came first.
Is there any material of any kind that exists after the TSR ova timeline? Any answers would be greatly received. Thanks

It did, in Japan that is.
The story originates in 2 series of novels.
One series is a continuous story, which covers most of the 1st and 3rd seasons of FMP, and well beyond it. The second series is a collection of short stories, which one episode of the first season (the one where Sousuke dates Mizuki for a day) and the entire 2nd season are based on.
So is this series that goes well beyond it only available in japan? What are the books ADV are selling over in the USA/UK? I have seen they go up to book 9, are they beyond the anime or far behind?
The manga that is available now only covers the first season.
But Tokyopop has licensed the novels. So in like 10 years <g> we will be up to speed.

Ok I think I've figure it out, tell me if I'm wrong.
The anime was made from the Japanese novels, which is far ahead. Tokyopop owns the rights for the english version, but the first one isn't even out yet until september 2007.
There is a manga out in japan which covers the first season and is into the second raid season which is known as Full Metal Panic Sigma.
So if I want to read on beond the anime, I have to wait for a full metal panic novel translation of some sort of scanlation group.
