Ive gone for the netgear nas (Readynas NVX) a few years back
and use a Synology DS508 as a backup on that :/

never trust one setup even though its raid(whatever) since a thunder strike will still fry it all/burglar still steal it all/fire burn it all/etc etc.

Both of them have a lot of nice features and both have their ups and downs.
yet trying them both Netgear is a lot more customizable out of the box (just add root plugin and do what ever you like)
and has a better customer feeling as synology seems to have alot of addons which seems free but are actually "free to try but if you want all the features, pay per month" which im not ever going to do for standard stuff.

I would also like to have a diy project going making my own mini nas with a UDOO for example http://www.udoo.org/

as they have quadcore for cheap and theyr tiny!!

ordered one to make a PIP Boy Security System(Fallout2 Style!!) which will
control my home (it has alot of IO ports to control external stuff as motors, switch stuff on and off or sense stuff.
As the Arduino Boards).

Also chewing some more on my NAS idea... Now I'm leaning towards a QNAP device with HDMI out so I
can use it as a media box as well.

Well, got myself a QNAP 2bay NAS -- I wanted the 6bay model, but wouldn't ya know it, the shop just didn't have
that model in the store...

Would've spent today setting it up but got dragged into work to help out. OT pay for me...

Okay, today I just wanted to jump out a window

-first was my city was turned into a skating rink...3 DAYS BEFORE HALLOWEEN!!

-2nd was everyone and their dog thought this AM would be a good time to drop a "get networks on the line NOW, cuz it MUST be a network problem" ticket

-3rd a "core router" servicing our internet went down for a good 2hours... so lost that time to actually work

-i don't want to think of a fourth cuz my blood pressure's gotten too high...

Tall and Cold, I should maybe find something alcoholic just to calm down...

The sun was shining today ... so I said to my boss ... blegh I'm gonna take the bike for a spin. And yes we are that relaxed about free time.

Had a nice drive and found out that the spigen slim armor cases are pretty good

Too bad ... I want to root it .. but i'm not sure if it's possible without tripping the efuse.

4day streak of work where the phone did nothing but ring with the refrain "must be a network problem, get on this
call and fix it (you morons!)" The "you morons!" part was never spoken, but I've been in this long enough to know
that's what they were thinking.

Spent yesterday sleeping most of the day, so I missed Halloween *sighs* I think and I HOPE I'm caught up with
my sleep right now as I'm in this weekend again. Good news is its a change freeze period, but you never know,
SOMEone, SOMEwhere is cooking up SOMEthing to break things... I just know it.

How was everyone else's halloween? Any pictures?
