Caught the X-Men Apocalypse movie with some friends tonight, three simple words "I was entertained."
That, and can I take Psylocke home with me? :perv: :perv: :perv: :perv: :perv: :perv: :perv: Hugh Jackman FINALLY gets to use his claws the way they're supposed to be used

That being said, the major complaint I had was Apocalypse had ALOT less "presence" than the 80s animated version,
which personally is my baseline for the character. Also why kill the guy when he's supposedly immortal and indestructable?

Tall and Cold, been a busy week, and going to be a busy weekend... how's everyone else doing?

Got back from watching the new TNMT movie -- thanks to a friend for getting me in for free.

The Good :

- Bebop and Rocksteady are back as the knuckleheaded incompetent muscleheads we know and love.
Even to the point of of being the butt of a "pull the pin [on the grenade] and throw it back at
them" joke.

- Get to visualize Krang and the Technodrome for the first time on the big screen.

- whitewashed Shredder from 1st movie is gone, and is now Japanese.

- TNMT animated series song playing at the end credits... nearly the entire theater started
singing along.

The Bad :

- cast back in their usual roles : Megan Fox as the eyecandy, Will Arnett as the obligatory
jerk / comedic relief and nothing new to them.

- Stephen Amell and Laura Linney were SORELY underused, both as actors and as characters.

- I know Tyler Perry is comedic type, but WHY does he call out to be recognized AS A SCIENTIST
in the vein of Newton, Einstein... and Steve Jobs? Seriously?

- writers of the action scenes are clearly lacking a 9th grade science education : For starters
they never read / seen what opening a cargo door on a plane at 30K feet will do to said plane?
Never mind what'd happen to a body when hit by a plane moving at flying speeds?

- love of dropping the turtles off high places again, when there's clearly no such high places
geographically speaking.

- cliche family troubles / "we just can't get along" dialog between the turtles. That's what
the writer's thought would pass as "character development?"

The Predictable :

- Krang doublecrossing Shredder

- the Turtles not taking the formula to turn themselves human

Bottom Line : a marked improvement over the 1st, but not by much. And seriously, if you leave your
brain on for this, you'll just end up picking little bits of it up from the
floor at the end.

Caught Warcraft this weekend : initially I'd say I was entertained... till there was the scene of
the mage turning the one guy into a sheep . THAT kicked it over the top for me. Still though at
alittle under 2.5hrs in length with that much plot to develop, character development seemed
stunted for all the characters... or maybe I've just forgotten that much Warcraft from my
youth. Also pretty sure The Fall wasn't in the game, but...

Also the seeing a hot elven chick (even briefly) was a nice bonus. Or at least I HOPE it was female

Have to watch them all, just have to find the time to actually go to the cinema.

Busy is a good word and having to study a lot about photography takes time.
But I must possess that special skill.

Tall And Cold, and a Belated Happy Canada Day for those of us north of the 49th, and a Happy July 4th for those south of it.

Had Calgary's annual con this weekend, right in the middle of our national birthday... I still smile at the cultural clash
between people dressed up in all manner of costumes, intermingling with people enjoying Canada day and the latter probably
going "WTF?! is going on!"

For me, some of the fondest memories :

- we got Nabeshin returning to Calgary again for a 2nd year. I caught one but not the other Bondage panel of his due to a line
up error... but was amusing watching boyfriend / girlfriend and husband / wife couples tying each other up. All with the usual
warning of his wife and daughter mustn't find out what he was doing -- all he told them was he was coming to Calgary "to work."

- Quite a positive response as usual to the panels I customarily run -- a couple fond memories, "The ears are made of husband
material" (directed to one of my cohosts) and in a guy v girl fighting pose fight, the first move the girl pulls is a "sexy skin
pose" -- she won that "round," then they both try and do sexy poses. Needless to say, I CANNOT unsee what the guy thought passed
for sexy male fighting poses.
