I would agree that over all, the 2nd season's music is better than the first.
The close theme reminds me of Santana.

I really like both season's opener... "Tomorrow" more than "Sore ga ai deshou". Other openers and ending songs that I like are from Inu Yasha and Kenshin TV. I'd say "Tomorrow" is probably my favorite anime opener and Inu Yasha's "My Will" is my favorite ending. There's a lot of other songs from other animes I like too.
It's cool that you can see/hear the difference and change in style between different animes. Kenshin's mostly rock that fits the 90's in J-rock. Inu Yasha and FMP is pretty new so they're like hardcore J-pop with a couple of trance/dance songs. Saber Marionette J, Slayer, and Love Hina uses Megumi Hayashibara's style of bubbly sweet J-pop. Naruto and FLCL have kick-ass J-rock songs. Cowboy Bebop does a mix of everything. And Kimagure Orange Road is true to it's decade with the 80's music .

for some reason, Japanese pop is very catchy i still don't know why
