Uh, I'm curious, how many ppl stopping by here have heard or seen of it?
Pretty knowledgable folk, not too many I expect.

Anyway, if you wanna know, reply and let me know.
I'll spill what little I know if there's interest.

BTW, Amalgam has something do to with someone who looks alot like a particular pale haired gal, and it's something I assume would be showing up if there's more animation made.

There's another meaning- I think the dental one just gets used more.

Mithril is a Tolkien refrence to metal.
(special magical properties and stuff like that, right?)

Amalgam (def. #2)- a mixture of metals-

i think this msgboard is a good idea! i haven't been at the yahoo groups lately as school has been exhausting...and this msgboard looks and is much cooler

i also read the other thread about more anime...i so so so hope there is! in the 3rd manga volume, tessa went to kaname's hs with the uniform...maybe they will animate more ??

Alright- Spoilers for the series and beyond. (mild for middle, bigger for end)

Amalgam is another organization that counters Mithril.
I'm not yet sure what kind of structure it operates with, but Amalgam and Mithril are very much enemy groups.

Gaulun is, somehow, connected with Amalgam. I don't know if he's *in* it, or allied with it, or if he's sort of just an independent contractor hired by them. I *assume* that Amalgam work is the main stuff Gaulun makes mention of in the beginning of the last story arc.
(ie, he really is a black market contractor, but I'm not sure what his goal was- money or power?)

Also allied with (but not *in* I think) is terrorist group A21.
I may very well be wrong on this, but I think that it was Amalgam that provided the resources to A21 for the Behemoth project.
(That AS monster has a subcode 'Plan 1501' name- just as do Gaulun's LD ASs- Plan 1056 for example.)

Also, from Senia's story, it really sounds as if A21 would have had the ability, but not the backing, to do something like that on their own.

Remember, in episode 9, Tessa, on 2 diff times, worries about A21 having russian eq? That's one of the annoying things that got dropped into the series, and never played through on. It does have relevance, but they didn't develop on that. Anyhow, Amalgam (and Gaulun) is supposed to be the connection.

And I guess maybe there's a person or two who wonders what this has to do with Tessa?
Well, a key figure in Amalgam is Tessa's older brother.

Makes for an interesting story, ne?

I'm not sure what his exact position is- if he's just in a high rank, or if he IS Amalgam (I haven't found any other associated chars yet)
Anyhow, it's also suggested he's Whispered too- in one of the guide books he's on the list with tessa and kaname. But maybe he's *just* a super genius. (ha)

He doesn't seem demented at all, if you find the pics of him I have up, he actually appears to be a very cool, self-assured guy.

And his name....um, well, it romanizes badly- it's something like Renaldo or something along those lines (Renard?=fox in french).

Anyhow, I do think that, given Gaulun's...um...condition at the end of the series, if they do animate more, this is who/what the main threat should be (it would correspond to the novels)

BTW, I'm looking at the Amalgam info page in the super guidebook right now, and it really does look like Renard(? I think I'll stick with that for now) and Gaulun perhaps ARE Amalgam, and, oh hahaa, there's a relationships chart on the inside cover, and it shows that Amalgam is an active enemy to the USA too heh. (course, Mithril and the US are allied)

Anyway, alot of new info huh?
*Just* enough to make you want to scream for more?
The next season (providing there is one) should be really really good

(and I really am thinking there will be one, when just last week I was figuring against it. But this new article is not only anime style but has the little 'tv' icon next to the headline.)

I make my own rules- anyone who's seen bugs bunny knows how much good ACME products really did for Coyote....

And got a resume? I'm an ethical dictator, and certian torture methods make me squirm. Wouldn't want to hire anyone who has a needle fetish...
(what good is a torturer if watching him at his work is torture? Oh, bad question)

She says it wasn't healthy, and she appears to adore/admire him alot.

She really was so sympathetic with that other guy (urg, what's his name?? forget)- because of the pain he went through because of Seina....
Is that because she felt/feels it too? (surely...)

What information there is about him is within the story, which I really can't translate

There isn't much in his profile (which is easier to figure out)-
they make him a mysterious guy.

I think, we will have to cross our fingers for that new series, and it should have him in it. But we may have to wait a little while to see it, when does the next japanese tv season start? January? It would be nice if it started then (a year after the first one did)
If it doesn't start then, it would be too far away!

yes i read at a japanese site that his name is lenard which i suppose is equivalent to renard as there's no "L" in japanese

he's the guy with the same exact hair color as tessa right? wavy and shoulder-length? i see quite a number of fanart where he's *trying* to seduce kaname...dunno if she returns those feelings?
