Kheldar? I was more worried about you. I wish you'd stop calling me about that night in Big Brother. It was all for the glory of TV I tell you. There was nothing behind it, let it GO.
The underwear thief has struck again.
"It's hard... Watermelon... or like a panda with a mean face... or like sandles with pressure points drawn on them... or the smell of a chalk board eraser... or a sunday morning where you wake up and it's raining... well... I like him more than hard bread."

I've only seen eps 1~12 (plus the final episode), but so far Melissa is my favorite. She's tough and capable, very responsible about her work and her subordinates.
I also like most of the characters, including Kaname, Sagara, Kurtz, Kalinin, even Gaulun: It's refreshing to see a villain who's all bad, just for the heck of it.
I have mixed feelings about Tessa, though. She's pretty, compassionate, sweet, and very intelligent. However, she doesn't seem fit to be in command so far. She's too uncertain of herself, and hasn't showed herself to be a firm leader. *shrug* Still, everyone seems to respect her, so I suppose she's got her own style of command.

When you design something and can have a feel for it's handling charactaristics like you have a feel for your own body, you're likely to make better use of it than some random schmuck, ne?
Remember kids, trying to start Armageddon is dangerous. Do not try it at home.
[14:57] Silver Lynxy: Ack. You couldn't see that?
[14:57] Katyusha [Love Through Superior Firepower]: Nope, cant see a thing.
[14:57] Katyusha [Love Through Superior Firepower]: Not using MSN remember?
[14:57] Silver Lynxy: Oh right. You're one of those Trillian people, aren't you?
[14:58] Katyusha [Love Through Superior Firepower]: trillian people? =.= What are we, an ethnicity now?
[15:00] Silver Lynxy: Yes. An evil race.

Well, Tessa's more or less training-on-the-job.
Like Kat's post- she's captian for a special reason.
If you notice, acutally Mardukas and Kalanin do most of the commanding-
either through suggestion or direct action.
Tessa's strong point is sub tactics for the Dannan. Kalanin seems to deal more with personnel-orientated command and Mardukas with standard military command. They defer to her because she does hold higher rank, but both seem to also be trying to support her in learning how to be a good commander.
Although I think they both, along with the rest of the crew, seem to also patronize her somewhat- "Oh, she's so cute!" attitude stuff- example, towards the end when she surprises the bridge crew. It was almost as if then they realized she was more than a cute (although odd) girl.

The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

I hadn't noticed it before Jae brought it up, but yeah, Tessa does look like she's getting-on-the-job training. *Spoiler?* Especially when she drops her clipboard full of papers (or something like it) in one of the early episodes. That'd be pretty embarrassing in front of your boss if you were still learning the ropes of submarine command.

ditto to everything everyone said. tessa's one of my fave chars.
i really got to watch FMP again to find out what i missed. i bet there's lotsa small details that i haven't gotten yet.

On a good day, a Tomahawk can fly into the door of a two-car garage at the distance of several hundred miles. And that can ruin your whole day.

dunno why, maybe it's coz the OP, ED and storyline in general make me cry.

That's the first time I've heard of FM*P! making someone cry actually.
They arn't *THAT* dramatic, except for maybe the Hermajistan (sopposedly Afghanistan) arc of the story. Those 3 are my favorite parts. Pure gritty hell for them, and ...
(select for the Spoilers- jae)
only Sousuke (and Gaulun) get out alive.

i dunno... great OPs and EDs have that effect on me. Have yet been unable to discover the reason for the storyline though.
I'm not really a fan for action series, but FMP had this flow to it. Good characterisation played a part too i guess.

@Deckard
Have to agree with ya on all that. Music's great, the chars are played
to a T -- I already DREAD the concept of a dub, but I think most of their
effort should be to find ppl to play the chars as well, if not better.
...I'll give the storyline this. Mecha series before never explained 'how'
theire tech came into being, FMP does

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."
