Newbie's Questions

Having recently finished the series, some questions remain in my mind:

1.) Who is Kaname chatting with on the phone at the end of episode one? Is it her school pal or her sister?

2.) Kaname's dossier says that she ran away when she was about 8 years old (you can read it if you look close in the scene in ep 3 when Gauln is showing it to the KGB thug). Does this have any connection to her special status?

3.) When Sosuke introduces himself to the class in ep 1, he runs through a long list of reading material, then says, "... and before I go to bed..." then cuts off, looks embarassed, and stops. Is this hinting at what I think it is?

4.) When Teresa first talks to Kalinin about Kaname, they end the conversation with an exchange in which Kalinin says that Kaname will be safe once the terrorists the Danaan is after are dead. Teresa replies "You mean for now, don't you?" and Kalinin says "Unfortunately that's so." Are they implying that others are after the Whispered as well, or that something else - mental illness, for instance - may be a problem for Kaname in the future?

5.) Why does Kaname lose it with Sosuke and call him a perv when she seems very tolerant and easy going with Kurz, who actually is a perv? Remember how, when Sosuke gets back from setting the fires in ep 6 (I think) and sees that Kurz is unconscious, Kaname tells him not to worry, and that that sort of person lives a long time? Well, what Kurz was doing in his previous scene was emoting about how he'd like to get with Kaname. She doesn't seem to take offense to that, which is a far more vulgar act than anything Sosuke has done. So there has to be some other explanation that the fact that she doesn't like to hear men talk about sex.

6.) Is this "Black Technology" stuff ever explained in the novels?

Eeehhhh. I don't have that ep handy- if she is talking about Sousuke then I think it's supposed to be her sister (Kaname wouldn't yet admit to Tokiwa that Sousuke was possibly anything but scum).

I don't think it does. I think it just shows that she's been a bit of a troublemaker.
If you really look at her history- if I recall correctly a lot of her trouble incidents happened about the time they returned to japan and her mom died.

Heh, I hadn't thought of it that way <g>
I had figured he realized that he wasn't supposed to be like a soldier- he was supposed to be a regular transfer student, and finally realized he had messed up (again) by listing off military stuff. The class was staring at him pretty much.

Hmm...could be. I took it more to mean that they expected that the Whispered might always be in some sort of trouble, given their abilities.
Someone out there would always want to use and abuse them so it would only be a matter of time til there was another threat against them.

Acutally she is violent against Kutz when he's being a letch- that's why he is passed out in that scene. Re-watch it They don't show her decking him, but when Sousuke returns he's passed out, she's holding her clothes closed, and is angry as all hell.
When she said 'that type lives long', it wasn't a compliment to him

I think later on, Kutz doesn't make any clear advances on her, so it's easier for her to nicer to him. On the other hand, Kaname really IS interested in Sousuke, and is more sensitive to him, so is more likely to be upset at him if he acts badly. Add in his early mishap behavior and his lame excuses..and she's pretty upset that this intriging guy is so strange!!

6.) Is this "Black Technology" stuff ever explained in the novels?

I don't think it's fully explained. There's some info about the abilities, but I haven't seen anything that really is the info we want.
Perhaps someone who has fully read them could better say.

3.I think he was about to say: and before I go to bed I read(hes armslave comics or something)... but it's a little to private so he stops.
4.well if anybody else knows about that she is "Wispered" and tryes to kidnapp her, well then she would be in danger! and that is what theyr talking about.

On an interesting note, with the exception of the AS-related reading material, I read the same stuff he does.

He didn't list a few good ones though. Jane's Intel Weekly and Intelligence Digest (The DIA newsletter) are also pretty good. A pity he didn't bring them up.

Kaname was talking to her sister who is with her father in US.. As the threesomes were listening to her conversation, Sousuke mentioned how different she was ... her treatment to him at school and her loving behavior toward her sister... (this is what i read in the novel....)
