Weapons Info
Ginkuma made a really generous offer to me, to help me out with a section for my fmp site. A weapons section, to be specific- seeing as, I tend to feel like this --> when you guys start tossing around technical gun names, models, and specs.
I think that maybe I'd like to work on this project here, on the forum, since it would allow this information to be shared and accessible- without everyone else having to wait until I have it all formatted for the site.
So- I have a stack of scans I will make- there are 5 gun spec sheets in the design book, plus some from other things- and I'll post the links here when I have them up.
There are also weapons info boxes in the guide books, I can scan them too.
But here is a starter list (these names are exactly as they were printed)-
*Character faves from the Super Guide, with links to the accompanying pics
Sousuke- Glock 19
Kurtz- Accuracy International Super Mugnam/L96A1
Mao- H&KMk23 Mod.0 SOCOM Pistol
Tes- Walther TPH
Obviously, there are alot of other weapons that get used- these are the ones I could get the names of easy.

The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

Ideally. I've also been collecting stuff for a mecha section as well.Kiva128 wrote:Will this section also include mecha weapons as well?
I'm not sure how based in reality the mecha weapons are (ie, are there similar RL weapons, uh, on a human scale obviously, or are they all purely invented?)
Those areas just don't happen to be my personal strengths knowledge-wise

Yeah- that's why I'm thinking that IDing those weapons, and having enough info on them to make putting them up worthwhile, will be easier.Electronic Zaku wrote:Well, an interesting thing to note is that the AS weapons are manufactured by real world weapon developers. Like the M9's Bofors smoothbore gun and the Royal Ordnance anti-tank dagger.
It's all based more or less on real stuff

@_@ Glock 19 ?????????????
I can't read or what?????*lol* **checking in the manga** .......huh....wasn't it a glock 18 ??
Hmmmmmmmm in the start of each manga, you have a close on Sousuke's glock, but due to the dark screen toner used to create the grey/lack effect, it's not easy to see if it's an 18 or a 19 ....... but now that you mention it, it could be a 19 indeed..........*feels dumb*
What a pity, the 18 is cooler, why does Sousuke uses the 19? T_T *lol*
With the 18 he could go full auto.... -_-;;;
Hmmmm *feels even dumber* AT the start I used to think it was the 17, then I saw the page with the close, and read 18...... but it's 19 then...? hmmmm ^^;
Yeah, as for the mechas, they seems so far to have weapons similar to the real ones, anyway. like the AK 47 that the savage uses, and that auto shotgun that the M9 or the Arbalest was using...hmmm gotta rewatch the anime.... ^^;
arghhhh, I should work instead of stay all the time in the forum @_@;; *lol*

Glock 19- I double checked. In both the super guide and the encylopedia.
However, in the super guide they also spell personal as 'parsonal' and made the classic 'l' as 'r' mistake (lank instead of rank)
So, I do take it with a respective grain of salt
The manga might be glock 18, I'll see what I see when I feel like getting up to get one.
Anyhow, we now appear to have the resources to catch Gatoh at his game, how well he knows his weaponry-
It's already been suggested that the manner in which gets used isn't entirely accurate to real life.
OH-
These are the guns that have schematics in the design book-
1. Glock 26
On this diagram, there is a sidenote mentioning Glock 19. I can try to decipher it, but its handwritten (making the kanji in it pretty much impossible).
2. HK P8 (no other notes atm- thats what the barrel says)
3. SIG Sauer P226 This one looks like it has some sort of muzzle on it? Is that an attatchment or how it's made?
4. Carl Walther Wattenbrik ...er, I really can't read it. It's Tessa's tiny toy.
5. The other gun doesn't have anything easily IDing it- I have no idea what it is, but I can see that its 20cm long (barrel wise). I'm sure that's helpful (not)

^^ 19 or 18
The thing is that the number is drawn, and covered by quite an amount of black dots (the screen toner) in order that it looks black fading to grey.... so it's kinda hard to tell if it's an 18 or a 19, but there are quite some chances that it's a 19, specially if the guide & ancyclopedia confirm that. ^^
Speaking of it, I should have asked what's in those 2 books before I ordered them....-_-; *lol*
maa, they're probably worthy! ^_^; Ne?
(i hope there's more info on the character's stuff that we don't know or past, than only the guns info and stuff that we know already...)
(aaarghh, I should be working, but I can't help!*lol* ^^;;;; )
My husband is MUUUUCH better than I am, and he probably could identify it easily. (maybe. *lol*)

I will make scans of them, I can't though, right now (it's in the middle of the night here and the scanner's too noisy)
So, you can go work now, if you really need to
If I get the opportunity to make some scans this week, I will- else it may have to wait until I do a larger scan session with the next drag mag issue.
(the guide books are really cool IMO- they do have lots of funny and amusing bits of info. I don't think they really give much more than general summaries of the books and chapters though- I really looked for some stuff of the dying-to-know variety, but didn't really find any. I personally had to classify the books as FMP propaganda- not really a whole lot more than what you would get from a magazine article. But condensed and presented in a worthwhile way )

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

Well, my reading japanese is pretty poor- I skim looking for stuff I recognize, and use comprehension skills to figure out where language fails.
There might be something else in themm well, I'd be happy if there is, then that's something else for us to learn
I did pull out the manga, and I have to say, I personally see Glock 18.
It *could* be 19, but that 9 doesn't compare well with the other 9s.
(those 9's are wider)
So, I'm going with 18, on that picture.
And I forgot to add that I don't know where the ID-less handgun is in the manga or the anime- its in the anime design book. If i were to describe it, I would say it looks like all of the other handgun except for some cosmetic things

Re Taurec-
This thing looks like more of a machine gun than a straight handgun type- (I don't know what it is)
Um- after the trigger there's a bulky looking piece.
The muzzle I'm talking about looks like a silencer. (extended, wide barrel, appears to be screwed on)
