FmP! dubbing

Post by Neko »

Well I finally saw an english dub to the show, and they totally messed up Tessa's voice. She doesn't sound as cute in the Japenese version. She sounds... well, more normal I guess, but her voice is one of the things that makes her so cute.

Sagara's voice is okay, though the voice actor makes him sound, how should I say... HUMAN. I imagined Sagara's to be a little more robotic, kind of like Commander Data in Star Trek

Chidori's voice is pretty much exactly the way I imagined it to be. BTW, is the voice actor that played Misato in Evangelion the same one who's doing Chidori's voice? I think they sound sort of the same, though I'm too lazy to do a quick search on google to confirm this.

It's way back on page 3, however there is already a thread about the english dub. Some of us have already commented on it- I recommend reading the thread if you want to try engaging in this discussion.

This thread can be left open (since the other is so old), but please do not attempt to start any sub vs dub fights or the voice actors suck!! arguments.
The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.

Damn, I hate it when this happens :wall:

Sorrrrie! But anyway, I read over the old thread and its good to know that most people agreed with my opinions. At least I know I'm not crazy

No, the voice actor of Kaname is Luci Christian, while the voice actor of both Misato Katsuragi AND Melissa Mao are both Allison Shipp. The information where I got this from is also probably the best english voice actor information database on the internet.

Bump.

I've been watching FMP season1 on the Anime Network On-Demand channel. I like their English voices, no complaints there. But I watched ep17 today, at the end of the ep when Sousuke returns from his Helmajistan mission and sits down next to Kaname who's been waiting by his door... in the English track, Kaname says, "Why don't you say something Sousuke."

Why?? Why? Such a touching moment as this... noooo. The Japanese line, "must....stay here.... Sousuke." Is so much better. Especially with the classic Sousuke response of "Not a problem." (Which turns out to be a problem a couple seasons later :P.)

Ugh, slightly irritating. :|

...it's a phenomenon in ENG dubbing I like to call 'statement of the f*king obvious' Very evil....
Somewhere up there along with 'redubbing the OPED into ENG'

I love Kaname and Sagara's voices, plus I talk to Chris Patton (Sagara's dub VA) on MSN Messenger sometimes.
