Hey everybody I'm new around here in more ways than one.

I recently had my first exposure to anime when I on a whim borrowed Akira from a guy across the hall in my dorm. I was blown away by the animation and the story (I thought anime was all DBZ which I cannot stand), and from there I was hit with a flurry of stuff from the guy across the hall who has a tremendous amount of fansubs on his computer. So, I got to see Ghost in the Shell next and then Jin-Roh. But I really got caught by anime when I DLed the whole FMP series from his HD over the network, and had to start on episode 7 becuase he didnt have 'em all yet. Well, I was bored one night and decided to watch em, and I was blown away. The story was tight, I was struck by how similar the interaction between Sousuke and Kaname was to myself and an old friend of mine, and that Captain! So, I now find myself amidst a flurry of new stuff to watch, but FMP still sits as my favorite.

Ghost in the Shell next and Jin-Roh.

Two good movies .. but beware of Jin-Roh .. it made me feel a little down and i had to drink lots of vodka to feel better. :-D

"Can I help you?, "you know this section is.." she broke off her sentence as the man walked towards her and nodded, "I think you can Captain".
Tessa looked down, "I haven't been called Captain in 4 years," Wha..what do you want?"
He gave her a devious grin, "I'm here to make sure you keep your promise."

Yeah I wasn't a big fan of that ending either. I had to frag for an hour or so to raise up my spirits again :-)

Eh, I'm a newbie. Ick.

I downloaded the entire Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw star series then i got started on tenchi muyo, whihc I don't like as much. I accidentally downloaded episode one of this while looking for burnup w,
(download everything syndrome, bad for my hardrives, all 120 gigs of em).

Unfortuneately the dubbing didn't work correctly on my comp so I dismissed it as horrible and didn't watch the rest.

My freind whos also obsessed with anime wanted a copy so i burnt it onto a cd and gave it to him.

I got an angry phone call saying id given him a blank cd, so i checked all my others on my newer comp until I found it.

Full Metal Panic worked perfectly on that comp and i watched the first episode another four times before giving the cd back....

Of course this was only a month ago so Ive only got eps 00-16 now...

That took a while....
.....Eh, if I had a dollar for every time I clicked on "find more sources for download" in kazaa i'd get my Anime` elsewhere...

I first found FMP in the Newtype USA preview magazine. (Yup, I got to see the few colored pages ^__^) That got me pretty hooked. I looked for the anime afterwards and found it on ebay and bought the entire series. My younger brother and I watched it together and he liked it as well.

Right now I'm thinking about buying the manga. Newtype is translating it, but according to some fans, Newtype is cutting chapters and shortening the story. I was thinking about that anyways since there's no way they can fit the entire FMP manga into the year-long subscription with only so few pages. Besides, I like the original manga. =)

Personally, I downloaded the MP3 of the intro theme, thought it sounded nice, and ended up buying the OST and the first few eps the same day. Managed to get (and watch) the rest of the series since then. A word of warning on the manga though, you'll wan't to be well versed with kanji before reading it. Reading Kanji gives me a headache, since I can't remember anything fluently except ranks. I must admit, looking at it from Chidori's point of view is... ah nevermind. I won't spoil it. I still havn't finished it to this day though. Maybe I should try my luck on reading the novel.

Reading Kanji? Pffft...
Now before you all go bashing me:

1) I can't read, but I'm mighty keen to learn
2) I can sit back and wait for a translated version in the mean time :-D

I think there was an English version on NewtypeUSA. Not sure about it though.

Well, this is my first day here and I have quite the story of how I found out about FMP. I was walking home form school about 3 months ago when I found a burned CD on the side of the road, when I got home I played it on the computer, and found that it was an anime, Full Metal Panic to be exact about 10 minutes long. up until that point the only anime I had ever known were things like pokemon, so after that I really started getting into anime. At the time I didn't know what anime on the disc was and it was driving me crazy, I had to know, finally a couple weeks ago I discovered The name Full metal Panic, and now I have episodes up to 19 and it is my new favorite anime

Wow, that means someone lost a cd of FMP!
Glad it was saved by someone who liked it ;)

But yeah, hope you scanned it all and stuff, but really, that is quite a story.
The audience applauded, even though it was not clear what Bush meant.
